Got a few questions about the sony erricson k800i

Thinking of getting this phone on the £15 mix and match deal from 3 and got a few questions hoping someone can put me right.

The keypad looks really small, is it ok for texting and can you text fast on it, my current phone doesnt register all the key presses it you go too fast?

Can you set it to always turn off the T9 dictionary or do you have to turn it off every bloody time you make a text?

Is there a better phone for free from three?

Anything else i should know about this phone?

    Thanks

It's a decent sized keypad compared to some of the more recent offerings. I don't text particularly fast and if I do, it's with T9 on, so can't answer the 'text too fast' bit.

You can turn off T9 predictive text permanently.

I prefer the Nokia 6120 classic mainly for the Symbian OS, X-series compatibility and HSDPA, but if you aren't a mobile internet junkie and don't mess about with apps on your phone, then the K800i will do you just fine.

Anything else you might want to know about the K800i?

The K800i isn't flat - the camera lens cover sticks out and is prone to opening in pockets occasionally.
    Video recording is atrocious.
While it has an xenon flash (which is great for taking photos), it cannot be used to light up areas like older LED style flash lights.

It depends how big your fingers are, I'm able to text quite fast with mine.

You set the T9 dictionary to be off all the time.

You won't be disappointed with this phone, it's got alot of functions on it as well as having a great camera. The TrackID software on it is excellent, it helps you identify songs by just listening 10secs of the song. Although there are better phones on 3 i.e. N95, it will cost you an extra £15.

Yes its a great phone with excellent camera,i found the buttons ok,no problem at all.play.com is selling the phone for £69.99,great price.i did get the k810i,its the upgrade of the k800i,now thats got small buttons.i sold the k810i and kept the k800i.

    Thanks for all the help.
What's the difference between HSDPA and what the K800i has to offer. Will I still be able to surf the intenet on the K800i?
    Is battery life OK?

HSDPA basically allows you to surf the internet on your phone at a higher speed than normal 3G (if you have the coverage). You'll be able to surf the internet on your phone without it though.

If I get one from 3, will I be able to put my own songs (mp3's) on this or is it locked down by 3 software

my son got that phone more than a year or so ago - and he loved it - well that was until he persuaded me to get him the nokia n82 - he texts a lot and never mentioned it being a problem - he researches everything before he gets it and all the time he had it he never once moaned about it - so in my opinion i think that you would find it a good phone to have
