    Great laptop/notebook deal?

I'm looking for a great value notebook - one that is up to date and cracking value for money.

It will be used for Word Processing - internet wirelessly, watching DVD, won't be gaming so graphics card not really needed and music etc, I'd like widescreen and prefer something up to date but a cracking recon or good deal would be welcomed. Doesn't need Vista necessarily or huge amount of software.

Any pointers or ideas where to start?

My budget is upto £500/600 tops but it's not about the cost really it's about the value of the deal. I really don't like paying over the odds. You guys on here seem to know what's what so I prefer to hear from real deal getters where to spend my cash.

So the Dell 6400 posted by Mike yesterday does not appeal?...it meets all your requirements and within budget..and with the attractive Quidco cashback..and if you will be using a lot on the move you can upgrade the battery for approx 5 hours use.

I have looked at most sites for laptops in this price range and there's not much to choose between them...in fact many have just 512 of ram and lesser dual core CPUs..and Sony's are just overpriced in my opinion.

If you're after a gaming notebook, you can't look too much further than this baby from ]PCNextday for £579.99. It comes very highly recommended as a best buy in the computer magazines.

    Also 3% Quidco

EDIT: Hehe, just read the original post. Doh!

I think that maybe it's close to top end of what I wanted to pay, it's a good deal but is it a great deal? I wondered if you guys had any other comparisons.
