Are you using an Nvidia gfx card?

If you are you could try to disable DirectDraw Acceleration.

    Open QuickTime player
    Goto:
    Edit
    Preferences
    QuickTime Preferences
    Advanced
Under Video un-check the box that is marked “Enable DirectDraw Acceleration”

    Then try it.

Or is it in another media player that it happens?

IT will more than likely be codec related.

Download and isntall VLC (Video LAN) and use it as your media player for video files.

IT has all the codecs your likely to need built in to it.
