# Grrr stupid puzzle

Ok so one of my annoying friends has sent me this email and i cannot figure it out.
If anyway can help me i would be grateful,as my friend is very smug and i want to figure it out so here it is

INTELLIGENCE TEST

Pls.follow indications here under described to discover the PIN ( composed of 5 figures ) which help you to open the enclosed file.
In the file you can read the name list of people who tried to open it, now it's up to you...

Here are the indications :

Sum of 5th nr. + 3rd nr. = 14
4th nr. = 2nd nr. + 1
1st nr. = 2 x 2nd nr. - 1
Sum of 2nd nr. + 3rd nr. = 10
Sum of all the numbers = 30

If you try to open the file you can add your name and send it to your friends to test their intelligence.

If you don't try to open the file take a revolver and shoot yourself

If anyone can help me pleassseee lol

Crys how did you get that answer lol :thinking:

Trial and error (although luckily my first guess was correct) - pick a number for one of the digits (I chose 4 for number 2) and work out the other numbers from the rules based on that number - if the total isn't 30 try something else... :thumbsup:

I converted each one into an alphabet:
e + c = 14
d = b + 1
a = 2b - 1
b + c = 10
a + b + c + d + e = 30

Then, I changed all the equations in terms of 'c' starting with 'b':
b = 10 - c
a = 2b - 1 = 2(10 - c) - 1 = 20 - 2c -1 = 19 - 2c
d = b + 1 = (10 - c) + 1 = 10 + 1 - c = 11 - c
e + c = 14
e = 14 - c

I then put everything in the final equation:
a + b + c + d + e = 30
(19 - 2c) + (10 - c) + c + (11 - c) + (14 - c) = 30
54 - 4c = 30
54 - 30 = 4c
4c = 24
c = 6

Finally, I used 'c = 6' in the other equations and got:
