Grrrrrrr to Ryanair's credit card charges!!!!!

Have just booked some flights to visit some family overseas this summer. Decided we could afford them, especially if we take hand luggage and online check in . We spoke to our family overseas to check the dates were ok with them and went ahead and booked them.

Ryanair have the cheek to charge £38 to pay for the flights. The only way to avoid the charge is if you have an Electron card. They even charge with their own credit card!

This is a really hidden charge and really naughty of them.

Who can I complain to?

I got really annoyed once with the charges that travel companies seem to like to levy. I phoned trading standards and ABTA and was basically told that they are allowed to charge what they like!!! Yes, Ryanair are excessive in what they charge and that is one of the reasons why I avoid them. :x

People forget that this is one of the reasons Ryanair can charge so little for the actual flight!

Im not supporting them as im all for upfront charing but were they not to charge for credit and debit cards the price of your flights would be higher so its pointless complaining imo and better to get yourself an electron card which costs nothing

Simple, get an Electron card, they are easy enough to set up with the co-op and places, and useful to transfer money to when things like this crop up!

dont think there is anyone to complain to ( apart from us) about this. i book tickets for my mom quite often so got a visa electron card from the halifax so now it doesnt cost anything worth getting one if booking flights just leave 1p in the account so they dont close it

Take a look here hun, I had the same problem. Managed to find someone with an Electron card in the end  Someone said if you buy the vouchers there's no charge but I don't know how true that is I'm afraid

I've taken the hit and paid with my visa. i don't book flights with them often enough to be bothered getting an Electron card. i just think it should be clearer about the extra charge earlier in the process.

My biggest gripe is that there is only one free way to pay and you don't find this out until you have all but booked your flights. You can't pay by paypal or cheque etc.

What a stupid whine
You KNOW they charge (it's not like they hide it)
Why can't you pay by debit card eh?

Still - you'll be paying £1 for a pee on their flights soon (no joke)

Buy Ryanair vouchers from their site and use them to pay for the flights. There is no extra charge either way.

They still charge £4.75 per leg per passenger for debit cards - the only exempt card is the visa electron.
