    guilty pleasure

I know I am showing my age but can't believe I have decided to record Mutiny on the Buses, on ITV now.

Totally sexist (I am female) and very non PC. Great comedy for it's day and the films were never as good as the series.

Reg, Arthur, Olive and Blakey, great stuff.

OMG, was made in 1973.....I would like to add that I was v. small and remember watching it with my Dad who loved it.

You just made me smile:thumbsup: my guilty pleasures are carry on films lol and do you remember Love Thy Neighbour ? now that WAS totally racist!

I was only six when they made this but I watch it everytime. The first black and white series are not PC at all and it makes me squirm to watch those ones.

cracking series  i was small as well but not so small these days, some may disagree but it does stand the test of time though.

What I like about On the Buses is the family setting and surroundings, brings back so many memories. When I used to argue with my sister, I used to tell her she would be like Olive when she grew up!!

she isn't but her husband is as miserable as Arthur!

carry on, love thy neighbour, on the buses, mind your language, bless this house all pleasures. All before all the PC ****** was rammed down peoples necks.

Political correctness does not create a more tolerant society. It creates a society of people secretly consumed by resentment because one honest slip of the tongue can earn them a label as a social outcast or village pariah . Political correctness limits speech and creates hatred where none existed in the first place.

Don't agree. I stated that it was not PC, so that anyone who watched it for the first time would be aware.
OK hatred may not have occured but blind acceptance of inequality clearly did exist. We have the mechanisms to challenge sexism, racism etc now. These terms did not exist back then but lets not assume these things did not happen.

We cannot use today's values to judge the past. So enjoy the nostalgia for what it is. :-D
