    Hair Straighteners????

    Hi HUKD'ers,

My teenage daughter has asked for some hair straighteners
    for Christmas...
Is it a case of you get what you pay for?
Are these GHD's worth the money?

Can anyone recommend a decent pair, or should I just
pay the money and get the GHD's?

    Any recommendations greatly received..

    Thanks in advance

Think these are as good as any, they say GHD ones are the best but I would not pay that amount of money for straightners, I have babyliss and they do a great job on my hair.

Depends on the hair thickness and length really. I've got long fine, fairly straight hair and the cheap ones work great on me, but I know if its thicker, or very curly you'd want better quality ones.

yep i agree with this^^^^^ depends on the hair some cheaper ones are good but sometimes ghd,s are needed

I've had my GHD's for about 8 years now and 3 of us in this house use them frequently. I would recommend them even though they're expensive.

ghds have actually caght on fire a friend of mine had this happen and i am a hairdresser and as long as they have got ceramic plates i think there just as good as ghds i dnt think there all there made out to be cheap r just as good for a teenager

These look good quality straighteners, use SHD1 code for free delivery. debenhams.com/web…ale

I have been using GHD's for over 10 years now, bought them originally from my hairdresser as they weren't on general sale then, my daughter has had the cheaper versions but they're not a patch on the GHD's, mine have lasted all these years without any problems so have been well worth the money

If you want a delighted teenager i'd opt for GHD's

I have heard the Babyliss ones are ok,i've had cheaper ones that weren't very good.

My sister has bought her teenage daughter some for Xmas too because she keeps borrowing hers lol

Be careful where you buy them from, there a lot of fake ones around, look for an authorised dealer, also Amazon get them on offer at different times too so worth keep checking there as the prices fluctuate.

When i posted the above re Amazon there was some for 88 quid delivered, they are now sold out,did anyone reading this buy any lol

I have some Babyliss straighteners and I always borrow my daughters GHDs as they are better. If you can afford it get the GHDs - she will love them.

i am also a hairdresser and its a well known fact that the fake ghds have been known to go on fire, you do not have to worry about the genuine ones as the newest ghds (mk4 - around 3 to 4 years old now) have a safety cut off feature which goes into cool down mode after 30 mins and also have a 2 year guarantee. i have tried all sorts of hair straighteners and after using ghds i will never go back! as the above poster says be careful where you buy from as fakes can be very deceiving, but from a trusted source eg amazon/beautique/girlznight or if in doubt check the website on the ghd page which will tell you if they are an authorised dealer or not. Your daughter will not be dissapointed with ghds!

    +1
My girls swear by GHD's they wont use any others now!

I'd go for GHD's, yes they are expensive but they are the best you'll find and will last for ages - just make sure you buy from a GHD approved seller, here's the list from GHD website..

I have to agree that ghd's are more than worth the money, i have crazy hair and originally bought my pair 9 years ago and would never be without them now, they are expensive but they do the job better than anything else but that's only my opinion, the originals are on sale for £99 from the official ghd website and i think that is quite a good price as local salons in my area are charing up to £130 for a pair.
