Don't do it.

Take it to a local independent, and if he can't fit you in straight away then all the better, a busy garage is normally a sign of a decent garage.

Halfords NO! Servicingstop NO!
Don't do this to your car!

Halfords will probably do neither.

Go to Halfords then.

Be aware that they may just find 'unsafe faults' with your car that may endanger your life, they of course, will offer to 'repair' these life threatening faults, thus costing you more than you expected.

There are some decent Halfords garages, unfortunately they are few and far between, decent mechanics working for Halfords don't work there for long, they move on and work for decent garages, ones who don't push for unnecessary repairs.

Good luck, and keep us updated....

there is a reason why halfords are cheap you get what you pay for

thanks a lot everyone! i will try to stay away from then.. ta

I've used halfords several times and never had an issue, same for a work colleague of mine.

apart from not liking the manager as he tries too hard to the point it's uncomfortable.

If you go to Halford and go with your head switched on then they're not overall too bad.

If you're easily swayed then stay clear. If you are not confident enough to say no you might as well hand over your wallet, they will pressure massively.

A service is a service.
Get it done. Say no to everything they throw at you.

If you want it cheaper, consider learning basic car maintenance. A service isn't too extravagant in terms of skill.
