    Halifax Clarity credit card

Does anybody has Halifax Clarity credit card? I am so upset with them. at first they said because I only pay minimum therefore I get charged interest £18.56, and now, I've set my direct debit to pay whole outstanding amount and I still get charge interest £13.

Can anybody confirm that no matter how much you pay, you still get charge interest anyway? if so, I'm gonna cancel it.

I think you do, I was recently looking at these cards for my holiday and in the FAQ it says something about interest being charged for the moment you use the card. So even if you pay full amount off you will always pay that interest for the month.

Saying that you paid it off and had 1 x £13
But paying the minimum off you would of had loads of £18.56.
Im not 100% as I havent applied for one yet.

When you paid off the balance in full, was there anything that made up part of that balance that you bought a while (say over 30 days) ago?

If so, that is what you would have been charged interest on I'd imagine...

yeah , it was a different card, but most of them review were saying how bad their system, policy and customer service are. They are all in one department. that would make me think twice before applying

yeah their CS is awful although charging you interest is the same whichever company you use a CC with

    they charged you correctly

I have this card, I pay it off in full.

    Interest = zilch...nothing.

    I suspect user error.

I suggest you take the last few statements to your local branch and ask them to explain the charges in detail.

OP didnt pay it off in full in month 1 hence interest of £18.56

month 2 paid it off in full but interest will still have accrued until the date Halifax received the amount hence £13 charge

no, not every company is like that. I have other credit card, and I never get charge anything if I paid in full which is why I'm unhappy with Halifax.

Have you checked your statement online?

conclusion, if you want to use their credit card, just be careful, keep an eye on your account regularly. for me, I might close it after I sort this out.

You are only blaming Halifax for your own shortcomings, I have never paid Halifax a penny interest on my Clarity Card, so if I can do it, so can you.

I don't trust their computer system...that's all. because it's not only happen to me, but loads of others as well. he had to phone every month to sort out his interest.

I'm sure loads of other people are like you don't pay a penny...but since it has happened to me twice, I can't be bother again, can't blame me. anyway...good for other people that's not have any problem with them because it is good for travelling abroad after all.

What part of 'you didnt pay it off in full' dont you understand? ALL credit cards charge interest on any outstanding balance until amount is repaid in FULL. you didnt pay month 1 in full hence being charged interest up to and including the day you repaid the full outstanding balance.

I have a Halifax Clarity card, never had a problem. Use it when going abroad only as there are no charges. Only interest I paid was on cash withdrawals (which I knew I would), but paying about £1 in interest on withdrawing £100 cash abroad with no other charges is a lot less than what most debit cards charge for withdrawals abroad, so all in all its been a great card for me.

I've had a Halifax Clarity credit card for about 6 months and think it's great! I get £5 off my statement each month I spend over £300 and as I pay in full I haven't paid a penny interest to date. I have used the card in France and Belgium and got a great exchange rate with no charges. It's possibly one of the most useful credit cards I've owned.
