Thinking of changing my account now but unsure to go with (Not Santander though)
I switched from Halifax to Lloyds tsb about 6 months ago, same company but much better service.
Sounds like it's being run into the ground

From bitter experience I wouldn't touch Lloyds with a bargepole.

I'd compare them to a bunch of incompetent numbskulls, but then I'd have to apologise to incompetent numbskulls everywhere for suggesting they were as awful as Lloyds.

But hey, that's just my opinion
Thanks for the post, i didn't realise that. Sounds like they get more money and we get less for it
I've just logged into my online Halifax account and it's promoting the reward card, no mention of any changes at all. Not very customer friendly of them really.

So why do they still call it the reward card if they're removing all of the benefits and increasing the fee?! False advertising I think!

They are keeping some of the benefits, mainly the ones that don't cost too much for them.

But is this possibly the start of the end of free banking as we know it?

Except if you go overdrawn you get massively fined even if you have an planned O/D limit but dont worry of course because if you do and sort it before 3PM!!!!!!! on the same day you wont get charged.

That said they do have an awesome internet banking

They do have a free £10 buffer at lloyds. In my experience all banks charge you the same for overdraft usage except the internet ones.

A PLANNED overdraft is just that! You shouldn't get £20 odd charges for using a planned service (interest yes but not a fine) the £10 buffer is pitance and the 3pm cut off to re-balance back out your account is never going to happen and they know it due to work commitments etc.
Who charges you £20 for using a planned overdraft??
Title should say Ultimate Reward card as they have another no fee reward card.
So I take it you were all using the purchase protection and travel accident cover etc then? Far more people would benefit from Home Start etc, and the first £300 of a planned overdraft is still fee free. If you are than unhappy just move banks, what other bank offers this for less? Santander have a reward account which tries to compare, but have you ever tried calling them? Imagine trying to explain to somebody at Santander that you have broken down, and then them relaying the message to the breakdown company...

Also if you have recently been told the account is £12.50...that's because it is that much, would you expect to go into a shop and be told something will be cheaper or more expensive in 3 months?
