Halloween Costumes Are For The Lazy.

Are people too lazy or have too much money to spend on Halloween costumes these days, When I was a nipper all you could buy was masks either Dracula, Witch, Frankenstein or that clear one that was supposed to be the invisible man,

    Costumes that we had

Vampire - School shirt/black trousers and a bin bag cape mums lipstick for blood
    Footballer - You footie kit
Punk - Old jean & Tshirt ripped and decorated with safety pins and you hair spiked with your mums hairspray
Robot - Big cardboard box covered in tinfoil with arms cut in it or painted red for a OXO cube

    Ahh the good old days!!

    lmao
we had skull masks and frankenstein masks
    also fairies
    but thats about it

    I agreewith that

last night my OH and I went out to a halloween party. I was dressed as an IPOD lol and he was dressed as a TV. We made the costumes ourselves.............................as the invite said all costumes to be made - and it was brilliant.

Plus it cost us nothing but some cardboard boxes, sellotape and loads of felt tip pens !!!!

Don't you think it has become too Americanised and commercialised? I can remember when it was simply doing "duck apple" - that's about it really:)

It was part of the fun ...when mine were little we used to get old rolls of wallpaper and paint massive bats and witches on the back then cut them out to decorate the living room. You always had black bin bag capes lol

Halloween was probably one of the best times of the year when I was a kid after christmas and your birthday, You would get dressed up and got free Fruit & Monkey Nut and even some sweets if you went to the posh houses and one old woman in our street made candy apples but you had to get their quick, Me and my mates usually about 4-5 of us would go round the full scheme and unlike today you actually went into peoples houses and you either had to tell a joke or sing before you got your Halloween, Kids today don't even work for their treats now they just show up at your door(not that I've had any at my house and its almost 8:00) and demand sweets.

We usually did that at school at the halloween party which was always in the afternoon, In the morning all you did was make scary pictures and lanterns out of paper:thumbsup:

Who'd have thought you where a Bin Bag away from being a Vampire when you went to School in the morning?

    Good Days!

Are you from Scotland, spamdog? That's what we used to do when I was young. We'd never heard of "Trick or Treat". We used to say "Do you want any guisers?" If they said "yes" you would go in the house and, as you say, sing or tell a joke or do something funny, then you would be given a sweet, or apple or if you were really lucky a few pennies!! If they said "no" you would just leave and go to the next house. It was all great fun.
