Halo movie possibly back on

Found 2nd Jul 2008
Neill Blomkamp came out and stated that the movie in its current form was dead and that we shouldnt look forward to a Halo Movie any time soon.
This was back in october 2007
Blomkamp had made the halo 3 promo short title - Landfall (have a look on youtube for it )

"Basically, they said that in order to move forward with the film, the filmmakers had to significantly reduce their deals. They waited until the last minute to have this conversation. Peter and Fran, after speaking with their producing partners and with Microsoft and Bungie, respectfully declined."

But recently MTV have pointed out Microsofts quietly added new job listings for the Jackson helmed, highly secretive Halo project:

A Peter Jackson-helmed Halo project was announced at X06 in Barcelona, said a Microsoft spokesperson. Since then, Microsoft Game Studios has been hard at work collaborating with Peter Jackson and Bungie on the development of that project. At this time, its necessary to grow the internal team to keep pace with development. Bungie will continue to remain involved in multiple aspects of the Halo Universe with MGS.

Latest news is jackson is in pre production with weta designing weapons and vehicles and script is being written

HALO: FALL OF REACH is a labor of love by Beattie in the hopes of finally getting the movie made.

The Premise of the script:

The script is, first and foremost, a character-driven story about a soldier named John who was kidnapped or conscripted by the UNSC when he was just six years old, and then brutally trained to become an elite Spartan warrior known as Master Chief 117.

The script then takes us through the horrific first contact with the Covenant hordes on the doomed colony world of Harvest, and then climaxes with the spectacular fall of the UNSC forward base on Reach, during which every other Spartan is slaughtered.

The script also gives detailed outlines for the second movie, HALO: RISE OF THE FLOOD, which takes place entirely on the Halo ringworld, and the third and final movie, HALO: BATTLE FOR EARTH, which roughly follows the events of Halo 3, the game.

One cool advantage of this first script is that (like the shark in JAWS) you dont even see the Covenant until halfway through the movie. And because all the creatures are CGI creations, this cuts the budget down dramatically and makes a first Halo movie that much more viable. For Halo fans, its like the prequel that provides all the answers to questions theyve thought about for years. For non Halo fans, its an exciting action movie that provides a clear, concise introduction to a world five hundred years in the future with relatable characters and a terrifying alien menace.

New script, concept art scribed in Hollywood and about to be pitched - … New script, concept art scribed in Hollywood and about to be pitched - but will it happen?3 CommentsIt looks like maybe - just maybe - all hope isn't lost for a big screen version of Halo.According to movie site Latin Review, a new script for a movie based on Halo prequel book Fall of Reach written by Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean) has got Hollywood all excited.Apparently the script's got movie bods so hyped up that artist Kasra Farahani (Spider-Man, Hancock) has even created concept art for the film's eventual pitch to Microsoft.Fall of Reach, in case you're not nerdy enough to have read it (cough), details the events leading up to the first Halo game, and the creation of the Spartan II super-soldier program.Of course the last Halo movie - the one with Peter Jackson and Neil Blomkamp on board - is now completely dead thanks to a pay dispute between studios Fox and Universal. But according to Latin review this refresh interest in movie land could see the Master Chief flick finally be made. "There are some big time professionals in Hollywood who are also Halo fans that want to see the movie made," it says.Putting on our big hat of cynicism for a moment, we thought the last Halo project went down the pan because of a studio money dispute - not a rubbish script. How will this new scribe do anything different to stop the board rooms squabbling? We're not holding our breath...
