tubigrip or wear gloves,I wear gloves.

workout gloves would be good.

cycling gloves with gel inserts on the palm

Put some bubble wrap on, you'll have hours of fun while you hobble around!

Tennis racket anti slip tape. Soft, comfortable, easy to apply (self adhesive) and cheap on ebay. Cycling gloves also a good suggestion but can be expensive so shop around if you go down that route.

maybe socks

My late partner always done this with her crutches also although hockey stick grips are the best as they are longer and you can wrap around a few times. As she was on them very long term we invested in private set of crutches from a German Brand called "Ossenberg" which is what quite a few of the private hospitals would issue. These are far lighter and the grips are more made of the material used in car bumpers I believe even have little reflectors builtin also.

We bought them from a shop on ebay.
