'Hard' Brexit offers '£135bn annual boost' to economy - BBC News

"Removing all trade tariffs and barriers would help generate an annual £135bn uplift to the UK economy, according to a group of pro-Brexit economists.

A "hard" Brexit is "economically much superior to soft" argues Prof Patrick Minford, lead author of a report from Economists for Free Trade.

He says eliminating tariffs, either within free trade deals or unilaterally, would deliver huge gains."

And the remoaners will claim a hard Brexit will result in the economy losing that sort of dough.

I don't really have much faith in any of these predictions from either side but I am confident medium to long term leaving the EU will benefit our economy but there will be bumps along the way.

The lib dems may see benefits in bank rolling Greece's never ending list of administrations' inability to collect their taxes but I don't and it's only a matter of time before the German electorate feel the same way.

that's pretty much impossible, unless they think that all trade with the EU to UK will cease, or the trade deficit will suddenly go the opposite way.

I wouldn't give £3.50 to the NHS the amount of dough it wastes, never mind £350 million, not that I would defend that trickery of words but that camp was a rather broad camp...bit like the remain one. The finances don't add up anywhere, least of all in Brussels where the persistently huge deficit gets bigger year after year.

They dream of a united European military and talk 'tough' on Russia but then look across the Atlantic to send some proper number of troops to help secure the Baltic states, the Germans sent 120 full timers and 120 reservists to eastern Poland as a 'gesture of support and solidarity' a few months ago, Szydlo had every right to be offended and pipe up!

The EU is not a happy ship, lots of smaller countries especially the central and eastern ones don't like being dictated to by Fuhrerin Merkel and then insults them like that Polish gesture. Orban weren't having her lecture him on how many refugees he should let in to Hungary the other year, got enough of his own poor people to worry about so good on him! My god even the Flemmings, Verhofstadt's own people, accuse him of being a traitor who sold them out to the French speakers domestically so there's no unity in this European 'Union' at all.

You're living in some parallel universe if you can't see the massive cracks there, the only thing keeping it together is shifting all this money about that is borrowed, begged, stolen and owed anyway. Totally different nations with different languages, values, ethics, religions etc can not be moulded in to one big plastic federal country and live happily ever after...just look at the former Yugoslavia.

I'm not an economist or accountant, and all I see is all sides throwing figures and predictions about that nobody can vouch for as even close to reliable.

Like all I know is I have never been overdrawn, I pay my bills on time and I have never borrowed anything I'm not sure I can pay back, if politicians bankers and economists stuck that common sense formula the world might be a far more financially stable place.

Would that be around the time the PM, media, economists and celebrities were warning of the UK facing Armageddon, scaring people into voting remain? I don't know anyone who voted leave based on a bus slogan, you keep banging on about it though.

Apparently we all voted Brexit on the strength of a rather vague figure of a substantial amount of money plastered on a bus that could be spent on an institution that wastes even more money on nothing than what Peter Ridsdale wasted on goldfish.

Having substantially travelled round Europe, meeting lots of fellow Europeans from west central and east, who are very happy to be European but see nothing but doom gloom and despair in this forced political 'Union' experiment does not count as a valid reason to sway one to vote Brexit then?

I've noticed your hysteria about certain events and organisations, whilst ignoring the views and actions of others, in the States in a certain thread so I can only assume you are most likely a devout follower of Jezza, if you are you do realise he's as big a Brexiteer as anyone on the right don't you?

If you read the article with some intelligence and understanding you might understand that the article was created and written purely just so that the BBC can keep up their negativity for Brexit.

The article clearly goes on and ridicules the professors data/report/analysis

If you want up to date notification about what's going on around the world then I can't fault the BBC but if you want unbiased factual news then the BBC is not the place to go

And please remember - every one of you tv licence payers is funding this biased corrupt corporation that not only hides criminality without fear, not only overpays it's management and "tv personalities" but it also uses third party to, in some cases, harass and threaten innocent civilians into paying their "protection money" (tv licence).
Laughable.

My critically ill mum lives with us so we can give her round the clock care, because of her age we get a free television licence so when I look at what 'auntie' pays treacherous leeches like Lineker getting it on the Freddie Freemans feels epic

Tickles me how you still get people that give it the "I would never pay for TV" about Sky whilst conveniently ignoring the 150 quid a year they're forced to weigh on for that load of old pony whether they watch it or not

You could rewrite most of that replacing BBC with government and TV licence with Taxation. Thus I say and?, What else is new?

Their bitter jealousy of Austro Hungary played a huge part in them poking the Russian Bear in to action, along with many other factors I accept.

Vote Leave bus 'rebranded' by Greenpeace - BBC News (18 July 2016)

"Vote Leave's EU referendum bus has been hired by Greenpeace, which plans to rebrand it a "vehicle for truth".

The environmental group has parked the double-decker at Westminster.

It will cover the bus, which featured the controversial claim leaving the EU could boost the NHS by £350m a week, with questions for the government.

Singer Will Young and Pakistan's cricket team are reportedly among those to have previously hired the bus since the 23 June referendum.

This meant Greenpeace had to reinstate Vote Leave's branding after acquiring the bus, which carried Leave campaigners including Boris Johnson, Michael Gove and Gisela Stuart around the campaign trail, before launching its "come clean" publicity stunt."

Hard Brexit is now wanted by the majority of the uk, even those that had originally voted remain.

It will also allow us closer ties with the US, a country we share many political ideals with, as well as other large economies around the world.

It opens up great opportunity.

The king of the United Kingdom three centuries ago was a loyalist paramilitary, really? Hmmm perhaps you're a class warrior who has an inferiority complex about monarchy and aristocracy, hence the classy stuff snipe?

The majority of my countrymen? My old man was Hungarian and my mum is English, I'm a Londoner who relocated to Lincolnshire to get away from the dregs, my nationality according to my passport is British and I think you'll find the majority of my countrymen and women voted to leave so I'm extremely miffed how you seem to have come to conclusion we voted to remain.

Seeing you are so disrespectful about symbols to remember those who have fallen for our country I'd have thought you would be sympathetic to Daesh, using such derogatory language about them is yet another source of confusion to me?

As for Brexit, I clearly just illustrated I am as much European as anyone if not more so but just not a fan of the concept of a federal political experiment.

Next?

Lol oh Dave. If the Tories got a majority someone should tell strong and stable she didn't need the DUP's help to form a, er, majority government.
Maybe the billions she was forced to commit to Northern Ireland for that reason will be used to cover up those ugly terrorist murals though.

You'd better hope there's not a basic English test to stay in the new Britain. Presuming you're an adult to be so obsessed with brexit.
If ever anyone wants proof of the public's overwhelming acceptance of Brexit, this thread displays exactly that.

Barely two pages long, as all the Remainers, bar a couple of hangers on, have accepted the result and now look forward to leaving the EU.

I even had the pleasure recently of chatting to a lovely couple, one from Slovakia and his new wife from Croydon. They've decided that as employment opportunities have improved in his country, they will take advantage of his new skills and bothmove to Slovakia. Everyone has benefitted.

No doubt there will be some challenges, but there is an incredibly upbeat attitude to it all.

It's a shame the last few can't let go of the past and move forward, but isn't that always the way?

I think we are all just fed up talking about brexit. It is done, it was a slight win to leave so lets just leave, there is still loads to talk about but we don't need to know since we are leaving regardless of the terms of that.

If it turns out a disaster then tough, if it doesn't then good.

|I'm sure i'll be fine either way until the robots take my job.
