Hard Drive and DVD TV Recorder

Found 10th Mar 2007
What is the best price around at moment for one of these?

Does anybody have one? Are they easy to use etc?

I have a Liteon DVD-HDD recorder, and I think its brilliant. It's so easy to use and does not cost as much as the big named recorders.

How much did it cost?

Tesco had a Bush for about £38.

do they still have it?

thats a bargain price

I purchased a LiteOn HD-A760GX DVD Recorder with 250GB HD but I had problems with the output aspect of the video recorder.
When I input a widescreen source from my Sky Digital Box the picture shown on my TV is standard 4:3. I have to maually stretch the picture with my TV remote.
This is also the case if I record a widescreen picture and play it back it is again in 4:3 format. If I take the DVD to another player it is standard 4:3 and not widescreen.
I have set the player output to widescreen but this hasn't helped.
Phoned their helpline and they were no use.
Read up online and it looks like it is a commom problem for Lite-On recorders.

Make sure you check the reviews on Amazon before purchasing as Liteons and the other Chinese electronics are notorious for faults. I got through 3 recorders in one year before eventually getting a full refund. Ended up getting a Panasonic DMR-ES15EB from richer sounds for £130 and its brilliant (supports DVD-RAM).
