Harrods Father Christmas - Not Free This Year!!

I have put this in freebies because thats where I would look for it originally.

I emailed Harrods and asked about the tickets - mainly, what date do they become available. They emailed me back with this:

    Thank you for your e-mail.

I am pleased to advise that tickets to the Christmas Grotto will be available to book from Tuesday 22 September. Tickets can be booked online at harrods.com and are subject to availability. Please note that we are unable to take bookings via email.

Due to the growing popularity of our Christmas Grotto, a £5.00 administration fee has been introduced this year. All children, babies and adults will require a ticket each to visit Father Christmas.

We would kindly request that if you are unable to keep your booking, please inform us in advance, where we will endeavour to make an alternative booking.

If this is correct and the adults that go with the children need tickets, its going to be a dear do!!

:-( was looking forward to taking the kids again this year :gift:
thing is when they were doing it for free they probably got a lot of customers from people who don't normally go in to harrods..... i know i for one spent about £50 at least in the store:whistling:

Most places charge for a grotto, but not right that they charge for the adults, probably mean a lot of parents/grandparents will not go with them now meaning that they miss out on seeing the kids with father christmas

Less parents/grandparents etc going in to the grotto with the kids will also mean less going to harrods as well, so probably lose money that way

I'm going to e-mail them and ask, was going to take my LO as we might be down that way but if I have to pay for both of us - I'll take her elsewhere.

bit off if you have to pay for an adult accompanying a child lol, going from free to that is extreme, Harrods affected by the credit crunch

maybe we should all email them and moan as we cant send the children through on there own and tbh i didnt think much of it last year certainly wont be worth 5 pounds each then buying the photos on top

 tell me about it  wonder if the adults all get a present too!!:gift:

Charging £5 for the ticket is fine, but I think you should get a voucher to that value to spend in store. That surely achieves what they want in that people just coming for santa will be encouraged to shop

hang on i just re-read the op's post and it says a "£5 administration fee" so maybe it's £5 per family? :?

I've just re-read it again myself. I'm going to email back to the person that sent it to me and ask if it is £5 per family or £5 each and every person.

As soon as I get a reply I will post it up on here.

hi did you find out if it is it per person or family

All children, babies and adults will require a ticket each to visit Father Christmas

I read that as £5 each.

So here it be by Xmas 3 kids 2 adults, £25,yeh right..... If they do it for free, then they attract in people who may spend in their store.
Bluewater hopefully be doing it for free this year for those wanting to go.

didn't think much of bluewater one last year tbh :-(

Bluewater was far enough for us,took a good 90mins by bus, going Harrods be rideculous just for Santa, specially cos I normally done Xmas shopping early on like sometimes I'm done for October and just getting odds and ends near end.
Yeh there always time wasters who get tickets and not go.

If it was a one off payment you would get whole families turning up with 10 adults and 25 kids for £5?

    This will be £5 each.

Thats not too bad then, £5 per group

Yup - a group up to a ten

Don't seem so bad - gonna be taking Lauren on the middleton railway to see Santa there - regardless of whether we get to Harrods or not.
