Has anybody heard of www.highstreetmax.com? Fraud I think!

I have just noticed £14.95 that has been taken out from my account from this company I have never heard of, I've never had an email from them nor any letters...the same amount has been taken every month for the past YEAR...I don't notice! The bank are looking into it and it has been reported to the fraud team...no idea what they do and have never heard of them.

Has anybody ever heard of them??

Yes I have heard of them, they are a discount company, you pay them to provide discounts on various retailers, I remember joining myself to take advantage of an offer that came up after I had purchased something from a different website (through a deal on here I think), can't remember which one now (google checkout maybe? or lastminute?), anyway the offer was to have £15 taken off the balance of your purchase if you joined them. I joined then immediately cancelled and received the £15, looks like maybe you did something similar but forgot to cancel!

They are a discount company and at some stage you have brought a product at a greatly reduced price, if you subscribed to their discount scheme.
Normally they say its 30 days free.
    THEN YOU MUST CANCEL AGREEMENT.

THE SAME IS OFFERED BY redsave.com

You buy goods 50%-75% below market price, but you must cancell agreement.

    Good Luck

I deffo haven't signed up for any trials or bought anything from them or any company related to them. I had called the number but it just says 'mailbox is full'. I've never had an email from them or anything through the post!

oh this sounds like the scam pulled by another company red something-they hid it away in the terms and conditions when you bought something cheap that you would be signing up to joining a discount club - if you get nowhere report it to the guys at the daily mirror, they did something on the other company so they may help you out too.

Great thanks for that! My own stupid fault for never checking my statements!! Something deffo dodgy as their phone line "mailbox is full" when you call it.

    Rep added thanks

Not a scam.. it was on amazon etc for a while, as others have said. Check your purchases around the time the first amount was taken.

I have phoned them three times, after a long wait I get through to a operator and as soon as I politely mention ]highstreetmax.com they instantly hang up!!

I have just been scammed by lastminute.com and highstreetmax.com

I used lastminute.com to buy theater tickets in April, at the end of April I noticed a recurring visa transaction for £14.95 debited from my account. I called the number on my statement and it's just an automated service, no one answers. I do not know any account details because I never received any, so I cannot cancel the service via email or on the phone. I spoke to my bank Nationwide about it and they say they cannot help. The only way to stop it is to close my bank account

You should be able to cancel the direct debit.

I've just been scammed for 6x£9.95 by highstreetmax.com having bought one item for £9.95 7 months ago. Never saw it in my online banking so very surprised when I did a six monthly rec of bank statements... Have contacted bank who will cancel this and send me a form for recovery. Isn't there a government department that is supposed to protect us from this sort of rort?

I bought a high street off them a few months ago. No issues.

People still using that "gag" oO

Hi guys. It's not a scam it's a rather clever and slightly tricky subscription service. Upon shopping online and many retailers you may see a tick box asking if you would like to be made aware of future discounts and receive a discount upon this purchase. Tick it and bam £15 per month. All legal. Just be careful what you click

I have recently noticed that highstreetmax has been taking money from my visa account for the last 5 years or more. Called and was refunded only two payments. Only noticed this because I knew that I did not owed my card any money and kept getting statements requesting me to pay the bill. How can I get my money back in full. Feel totally upset and afraid to use my card again. Please help/advise.

I think you may struggle to get 5 years of payments back. Your card issuer is your best bet though, send them a letter and see what they say.
