No sorry. If you are staying round that neck of the woods can I recommend waterside in paignton. It's a really nice place.

Torquay is the epitome of outdated. It is "Gods waiting room" of the South West.

Maybe I have this view because I have spent a fair amount of time there.

In all seriousness though, the surrounding areas are fantastic and Torquay is not so bad. Some of the hotels are dated but the town and harbour are relatively nice and you are right between Paignton and Exeter (Paignton being close). Visit the Cathedral and Roman Walls of Exeter for a great day out.

    (seriously thanks for the advice.lol.)

Torquay is a nice place to stay. Seriously!! Catch the steam train from paignton to dartmouth and eat at one of the fantastic fish restaurants there. Really nice day out. Also paignton zoo is one of the best zoos in the country.

The Roman Wall is actually very good. I get to look at it all day from my office window and the trail takes you past some great shops and other sites.

Promise me, if you go out for a meal, you go to a Tex-Mex restaurant in Torquay called "Jingles". It really is amazing!!

Torquay holiday park is a bit dated but not dreadful. If you're going with young children you'll be fine as entertainment is geared more towards them.Torquay town is nice.Good shopping centre, nice beach and promenade, waterpark,Paignton Zoo,.Funfair, Model Village so there's loads to do.The park itself is a fair way from Torquay town but has lovely views form the patio bar.As the saying goes" one mans meat is another man's poison".Good for families but not for young people looking for nightlife

Whilst I agree with what you say, the last sentence about it not being a good night out is untrue. Torquay is actually pretty good for a night out. It offers more than Exeter and other surrounding areas. It is usually full of hen/stag parties as it does have a reputation as a decent night out.

Honestly, I was exaggerating. My girlfriend and I have had some nice evenings out in Torquay. Especially in Jingles!

This site is about 2 mins from my house. Theres nouthing wrong with the site. Its clean and tidy. I know a lot off the people who work there. Theres plenty to see and do in and around the Bay. Let us know who are in the party and I can suggest some places to visit. If the weather is nice there are beaches everywhere. The Town is a bit naff but I dont like shopping much. There are LOADS of places to visit all within a short distance. If you have a car the moors is a nice place to visit, and you are an hours drive from either Plymouth or Exeter.

We're looking at going to paignton for a week/ 5 days in August, can anybody suggest a family run holiday park or even a touring site with a few static caravans. i have 2 children 8 and 11 but we want to steer clear of the hussle and bussle of holiday parks such as haven if you know what i mean. Any help would be appreciated

Beverley Park and Ashvale are good. They are owned by the same people, are opposite each other and are really nice. beverley Park is the busier park, and Ashvale is the quieter one. we had a lovely week there in July

Thanks I'll have a look, we're not too bothered about entertainment on a night or anything like that we just want a base and perhaps a nearby beach !

The park is really nice. They have changed the vans arround. I was going to offer to pick you up some leaflets off all the attractions but you must know them all. Trago Mills has a lot to do with animals and rides. Its on the way to the Dartmoor which is a nice day out. Depends on what you want to do really. If you want Fish and Chips or a Takeaway then Woks or Pauls Place in Barton are nice. You will pass there on the way to the site. There is a Sainsbury or a small Tesco not very far away as i would imagine the shop is expensive. Nouthing to worry about! Have a good time. You mat even see me walking the dog during youre stay!
