I know people who have, although it never happened to me. Most common causes are either the power dying during the change as they didn't have it on charge or just a bad flash.

If this happens you can recover it by fitting an Undiluted Platinum chip though.

Two questions, what do you mean by flash? How much are those chips?

Flash means adding different firmware i.e downgrading

Some of the Firmware changes require the memory to be flashed which is always going to be a risk regardless. The Undiluted Platinum chip is about £30-£40 and needs to be soldered in.

Cant certain models not let you flash? heard that before but not sure if a newer flash came out since then,

Yes, the TA-082 motherboard used to be the one you couldn't do but i think they got round that now.

Another quixk question, whats the diffrence betwwen 1.5 firmwre and 3.40 oa-e?

In a nutshell...

1.5 will allow homebrew and a few ISO's
3.40 oa-e will allow homebrew, most ISO's, PSOne games (through the PSOne emulator - yes it will play backup PSOne games) and a few other things.

You can go from 1.5 to 3.40 oe-e if you want for the extra functionality. In fact there really is no need to have 1.5 on your PSP any more.

I don't like the idea of dropping a brick and/or defecating on something I paid a lot of money for.

haha PMSL

I have my own web site and some info on
Pandora Battery - Unbrick any PSP!
pm to get my web site address and look to see what you guys think.

don't just make sure the charger is plugged in while flashing. check to see if the battery is above 75% (i think) also.

I've had my psp since i bought it on ebay jap fw1.0. I think the last firmware I got was 303oe. Its defeinately worth doing it can save you a fortune.

The new thing seems to be nintendo ds in my office though. They've all got them thru the £63 deal and are getting cartridges and memory cards to get the bootlegging working.

ANY bricked psps can now be recovered using 'Pandora's battery', a new release by the homebrew community today. Basically if you brick your PSP you can send it back to Sony who will use a special battery to reinstall the firmware on it. Pandora's battery allows you to do the same with a regular battery which you modify yourself (though from what I understand this battery will then only be usable to recover bricked PSPs). For more details and a free download of the software, see: pspupdates.qj.net/Noo…579

No need to pay for repairs anymore!!

I've downgraded a 2.6 and a 3.11 and not bricked. It's about reading the instructions to the letter. The new downgraders also have some failsafes built into them. You can brick, but it's now less common.
