I've been looking for a Canon 600D, the price on slrhut looked good but then when you go to checkout the tax is added which increases it a lot. Did a quick search and found some info which showed their supposed UK office on Google maps, its just a mailbox centre.

I'm also in the market for 600D with 18-55mm lens.
I would definitely keep away from SLR hut.

The best prices I found with UK specification are available from:

Cecil Jacobs (Quidco showing 3% cash back) (TCB showing 3.09% cash back)

http://www.jacobsdigital.co.uk/search.aspx?SearchTerm=Canon+600D

Or

Jessops (Quidco showing 6% cash back) (TCB showing 4.04% cash back)

http://www.jessops.com/Directory/catalogue.ashx/$s=Canon%20600D

Both quote £599.95 (less £40.00 cash back from Canon) = £549.95

Good Luck in your quest.

Thanks for the replies. It seems they add duty on at checkout so the prices aren't as good as they look...

Thanks for that but am looking at anybody with purchase experience as these guys literally took the fight to the director on his grammar mistakes
This is too cheap £461.99 for an 18-200? I paid over 6ton from jessops not so long ago?

Not much shown on a whois lookup either

Personally I'd avoid them
You realise that the prices don't include import duty?
Once you get to checkout the price usually goes up to the same as anywhere else.
expire plz
It doesn't look like they exist at the address they state. Be very careful.

Yes, they should be next to the chip shop, but they are not.

Even less competitive if nothing turns up.
Once you add to basket a 'duty' fee of £69.99 appears.

Just noticed that?
The duty is vat bit of a sly one that
Don't do it.
Not a chance now,

That old saying again

If it seems to good to be true, chances are.....................

Sorry folks move along - nothing to see here.
I've mailed the company suggesting they add the VAT on the advertised price.

they are imported from US i think so not quite same stock as uk retailers maybe warranty issues etc?
I Emailed SLRHut to ask them why the VAT wasn't reflected in the screen price. this is the reply

"Scott,

I understand your concern however, you can see the actual amount that you have to pay before you checkout, while the items are in a cart.
Best Regards,
SLRHut"

My reply:
"I understand you see the ACTUAL amount when you checkout, but should you not see the full price when deciding to buy the item instead of thinking you got
a bit of a bargain then getting hit by VAT that should have been reflected in the screen price in the first place.

Just wondering how many customers you have lost advertising a false and misleading price

Regards"

My advice - Stay away....
The reviews are pretty good:
http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/slrhut.co.uk

But, they are a yank company hiding behind a .co.uk domain - personally I never like that.
The registration address is a PO Box - always one to avoid !
I'm sure Nominet would be very disapproving

As you've already found out, you need to add VAT/sales tax to their prices ... plus, you may get caught for import duties.
Haven't heard good things about them oO
