maybe your gp is referring to before things go back to normal, where others refer to it as completely over it, if ya get me drift

sorry to hear that, I'm awaiting one and I've been told over a year.
A guy in my work has been off 18months and still isn't back.

Hope for your sake it is 3 months. Good Luck.

things can go so differently for everyone, what could take you 3 months to get over could take others years, i dont think thewre is going to be a specific time here, only your time

thanks perhaps they say 3 months as an average time then

I think it depends where it is , I had a discectomy and it took me less than 3 months to recover. I was a contractor at the time and the doc said that self employed people tend to recover quicker cos they want to get back to work quicker.

There are so many variable to consider in this question.

Which disc are you having out?

What procedure are you having to get it out?

    Do you generally heal quickly?

Best bet is to ask the guy who will be holding the knife on the day...

    Funny that !! :-D

Like most ops, I think it depends on your age and fitness before you go under the knife. I had my hip replaced (aged 39 at the time) and was back at work in 6 weeks driving and commuting by train to London to do so, though still on crutches.

I got myself fit again by going to my club and walking up and down the pool, gradually increasing the distance daily. You have to help yourself, basically. It's not like being a prem footballer with a team of specialist docs and physios giving you all their attention.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine

I had this op a couple of years ago and it did take about 2-3 months in all to recover.May I also say the relief from pain is instant! Cant sit for 24 hours after stand or lie down only.
