:thumbsup:

I had one for 3 years ( T Reg 2.3 Zetec ) 112,000 miles

Very reliable, Never let me down, Lovely car.

In that time I had to replace

Brakes/Discs = £400 ish
Exhaust = £100 ish
Major Service = £250
Coils = £90
ABS Sensors = £80
ABS Rings ( Requires new CV joints ) = £160 Refurbished ( £250 each new from Ford...!!! ).
Wiper Linkage = £250
Tyres = £200
A few more little niggles.

As you can see generally items you'd expect to have to replace, Wear and tear etc.

Never broke down.

If you get a petrol get the 2.3 it's more economical than the 2.0..!!! and more powerful.

The 2.0 is a VW engine

2.3 is a Ford engine, Has a chain instead of a cambelt.

Common faults to check are:

Corroded wiper linkages £250+ to replace.
Suspension problems ( Probably because they are often used as vans ).
Air Con ( Expensive fix ) Mine worked but needed re gassing all the time, I chose to just open the windows.

Don't worry if they have broken speaker grills, Only about £1.50 each from Ford.

Also consider

VW Sharan, Seat Alhambra basically the same minor different standard equipment levels.

Seat Alhambra having the better standard equipment level, Galaxy middle range and Sharan being very stingy.

Agree on the Renault but Peugeot & Citroen good for me

We had a Ford Galaxy a few years ago. We bought it for the space - which was lovely - but I remember it being very expensive to run, bits fell off it, we seemed to have problem after problem with it going back to the garage where we bought it used.

Wheels wore through pretty quick too.

TBH I've shut that vehicle out my head it was a disaster... I can ask my husband for specifics if you like.

We went and bought a renault grand scenic and it's been absolutely fab - but you have to make sure that is a 55 plate or newer and go for a higher spec diesel engine!

Sounds like you might of had the wrong tyres, Galaxy's are supposed to have Reinforced sidewalls. You can get standard tyres without the reinforcement and they are cheaper but will obviously wear faster, Mine lasted over 12,000 miles and were still in good shape when I sold it.

Mine did about 30mpg which is good for the size.

What is a wiper linkage is it basically the windscreen wipers?

The linkages are what join from the motor to the wiper arms, It's a complete unit, Easy to replace as I did mine myself.

The problem is the rain gets down were the wiper arms attached and can cause them to seize up, Especially when not used that often.

Some have caps and should be ok.

If they were to ever stop working, Don't try to use them until fixed as you could burn the motor out as well, Which is a £90 job.

they are not as good as an iphone but better than your google g1:thumbsup:

Most likely - I think we were very unlucky with the vehicle in general. I do remember getting reinforced tyres the 2nd time! I also think the garage that sold us the vehicle had us over - and they were shut down within 18 months of us buying the vehicle. It's left a bad taste in our mouth about the vehicle - but I bet many people love theirs...

It's like our Renault Grand Scenic - we've loved it big time so far - yet others slate it.

Ive got one for airport trips its brill 1.9 Tdi 600 miles to a tank of diesel had the VW Sharan befor also brill but spending 1K I think you''ll end up with a dog:thinking:
