Has anyone wall mouted their LCD or Plasma?

    Afternoon All,

I'm just looking for idea's on how people have their LCD/PLASMA tv's wall mounted??

If you have wall mounted your TV have you hid the wires (e.g. Sky Connections, Gamin Console etc)!

If you could put up any pics that would be great!

    Thanks

A bit like this... you stick the back on the wall, and the front comes off for you to run the wires though, and then put the front cover back on.

Alternatively if is a plasterboard wall route the cables in at floor level then out behind the tv and use some gang brush plates for a draught free hole.........

    now that is nice!!!!!

i'd hate to have to hang that tv in the cabinet though! how the hell did he get behind it to plug in the cables and more importantly to put the screws in the bottom hanger for the mount?

mine's wall mounted and uses a black hemi-spherical conduit (from b&q) to hide the cables it matches the piano black of the TV, i did start to dig out the wall to have a hidden conduit for the cabling but only half an inch into the wall i hit the hardest stone you've ever seen in your life lol so i reverted to the trunking

The one in my dining room is chased into the wall.

No offence to the people who have the trunking but I would go the extra distance and have it chased.

    Here is mine.

I love my telly............but not to the extreme where i'd actually mount it. :w00t: :-D

I like your thinking! Trunking looks neat but its not the same as having everything hidden!

But my only worry is if the TV breaksdown or needs changing!

Going by the PS3 vs 360 threads from last night / this morning, people were getting that defensive/possesive that perhaps they do actually spend too much time on their consoles in more ways than one :w00t:

The tv just lifts straight off.

    This is mine

Straggly wires are where I've removed my music streamer and replaced with a Bluetooth audio receiver and not got around to tidying them yet

Sky HD and PS3 are in the adjoining room:

I won't lie and say it was an easy job, however the walls are drylined so I ran 2 HDMI Cables, 2 Optical, 2 CAT5e and 2 Phono cables through, no way I could sit and and look at wires hanging down.

And also don't scrimp on fixings, mine's held up with 12 shield anchors, I know it's a lot but there was 12 in the packet so thought what the hell (about 3 quid from screwfix)

Have left sufficient room for when I upgrade from 42" to 50"

Looks like that was a whooosh moment!

Now here's the rub.... I'm not sure where to wall mount the plasma in our new computer / TV games room being built. I know the best place for it - but the radiator is going to be below it. That makes two problems. Is there any problem with rising heat (or will a rad cover sort it out if it is?) With the rad being where it is, it means the DVD player, Sat system and 3 games consoles cant go on a stand below it. So the idea is a shelf above the TV. Power and cables wont be an issue - there is no ceiling at the mo - and everything can easily be sited to suit. (eg 4 double sockets above the shelf.)

That OK or do I need a rethink?

Id love to wall mount my plasma, but i genuinely dont think the wall would take it. i have visions of it just falling off, with half the wall still attached!

    tell you what ..

having spent a few weeks once making a very nice setup i can now say what a waste of time.
teh amount of effort u need to go to to replace any section of ur av setup is a pain in the bum hide the wires in some trunking and have be done with it life is to short

Not sure the boxes above the tv would work - would look odd and what if you need to fiddle with them? be a bit high to see what you're doing.

I've got my boxes in a floor standing unit a metre or so to the left of the mantle and tv is above the mantle. You can get 5m cables from Ebuyer etc If the radiator is not yet in place you could route the cables behind before it gets fitted.

Not sure about the heat from the radiator - a cover will help spread the heat and deflect it away from the tv - might a question to ask in the avforums...

EDIT - already been asked a couple of times check the link

If one of the consoles is a 360 I wouldn't put it anywhere near a radiator, I'm paranoid as it is with mine getting rrod and mine is well ventilated and nowhere near a radiator.
