Has there really been no interest in the Raoul Moat situation?

Or has it all been censored by the mods?

BBC News was the same on Friday night. The word 'shameless' came to mind.

    if he didn't kill himself
the cops were itching to kill him
i dont agree with him shooting people
but i think he was tormented
if they had let his brother talk to him he would still be alive
the cops were out for blood and got it
    RIP mr moat

It was a conspiracy i'm telling ya!

I agree that the coverage was shameless, and at times incompetent, and obstructive to the police.

Didn't think it was being discussed, as when I entered "Moat" into the search box, only a sleeping bag thread was returned. Guess the search option leaves a lot to be deired ... lol

the only person out for blood was moat and he got it. don't forget he killed one and shot 2 others.

My only criticism is the the police should've let gazza talk him down, with a bit of luck he'd have shot gazza before this drunken wife beating fool kills someone.

The search only searches the 'Deals' section by default (in my experience anyway, probably custom settings for it)- I normally use advance search and then search Misc, FS/FT or whichever category I'm looking in.

The picture above shows officers looking directly into the lens of a photographer who was no doubt trying to outdo his peers, and in doing so, could have seriously escalated the situation

As the negotiator said, "Raoul, there is no-one behind you" Except of course for photographers from every national newspaper, journalists from Sky and the BBC, and householders who Sky and the BBC have encouraged to provide live updates

Press trying to make a bigger story to sell newspapers.

How come it's suddenly a certainty that his brother would have talked him down from there? What if he was unsuccessful? Then you have the press blaming the police for letting his brother talk to him etc.

Moat wanted to die, it's as simple as that and who are we to stand in the way of a murdering scumbag's suicide. He will have only tried it in his cell which means more expense of having him under constant supervision.

Well done the boys in blue.

He was scum and i cant fathom why people feel sorry for him.

who said he wanted to die.......who said the police didnt set him up and get him sent to prison after tormenting him in the first place?

why did the police suddenly say he had made threats against the public and not just the police?

when did the police become judge and jury?

they murdered him at the end of the day, creeping up behind him and then "stunning" him because he heard the noise which clearly set off the gun.

yes, he was a bad man to a certain extent but this is just another case of police going 1 step too far......regardless not to mention their complete and total incompetence

The only interesting part of this news item was the amount of mobile jokes I received on Friday.

Other than that I couldn't care less he is dead. Wish more criminals would do it tbh.

Laughable that the police can be in anyway to blame over this. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Seems he had no time for his family, so this nonsense from his brother is just that, nonsense. And if a drunken Gazza can get to Rothbury with his loaves and equipment to catch the fishes, why couldn't the brother and the uncle get there too. Then they may have been able tosay they tried, even though they were years too late

    If they had let him?
Im sorry mate, but if it were my brother putting a gun to his head, I'd be THERE. not sat in my front room with popcorn & beer!!. His brother couldnt care less about Raoul. How can he say that now!? Its a load of BULL saying the police could have let him talk. He wasn't even there!

Also, If my brother were imprisoned for any amount of time, I'd take the time to visit him there too, but Raouls brother skipped that one also. Some family he had, no wonder.

my point exactly, Gazza, though mental! (especially with the fishing rods) had the decency & courage to offer help, not sit back and watch.

I'm laughing so hard over this, thank you Caspar :insert large thumbs up smiley here:

Seriously is this the length people are going to defending a man who killed 1 person and shot 2 others?
Surprised the police negotiated for so long should have been a case of put your gun down or were coming in 5 minutes.

It all got a bit boring, after the initial murders, nothing of note happened until he topped himself.

I was expecting some Big Vern type thing where he would blow his own head off after taking out a few more coppers.

how far was he pushed by the police?

what makes the police any different they killed another man......right or wrong?

we dont and doubtfully will know the full story or how he was harrassed by the police throughout his life. he meant to shoot and kill a copper........noone else,.......why is that?

Firstly, how do you know this, were you there???

Secondly, he was holding a gun to his head when it went off, hardly murder now is it?

As for all the speculation that him being tasered resulted in involuntary muscle twitching/spasm - that's all it is, speculation.....

are you attempting to suggest being "tazered" does not cause involultary muscle spasms?

holding a gun to your head is 1 thing pulling the trigger is another.....in case you are unable to make the distinction between the 2

unless you new the bloke or was there and witnessed the whole thing you are only going on what you read.

ignoring the law......we live in a civilised world apparently........not an eye for an eye especially from people supposedly enforcing the law.

what makes the police any different from criminals if they took that stance?

we have a legal system that turns petty criminals into violent murderers..........i think there is something fundamentally wrong with "the system"

Having never been tasered myself I'm unsure if it does or not, however I should have been clearer - it's pure speculation that this guy being tasered caused him to pull the trigger and shoot himself.

As for pulling the trigger - I'm well aware that it's one thing to hold a gun to your head and another to pull the trigger, however he'd already managed to pull the trigger when pointing it at 3 other people, and had made statements saying he'd only stop once he was dead and that he'd do anything to avoid going back to jail - not too much of a stretch to think that he pulled it himself, is it???

The Daily Mail, I know, but at least, if not more valid, than your view Caspar

    Mod & Ed

Terrible tragedy for all those involved, what made me sick watching the tv coverage was those 2 old women dancing a jig in the street whilst a young lad played an accordion, this was happening only yards away from a very tense situation, where people were risking their own lives to protect the general public, and how would they feel if it was their son lying there with a gun to his head, whether Moat was mentally ill/evil/wicked, he was still someones brother, nephew, friend and they didn't deserve seeing people behaving like that, hope they feel ashamed of themselves, but don't suppose they do, stark contrast to the dignity shown by the officer Moat shot at, who has said that he bears Moat no malice, and the people of Cumbria after the recent events there.

I tend to judge each case individually. If man A brutally raped man B's wife or girlfriend, and then man B murdered man A, I'd agree with that. I wouldn't feel that Man B should die in that case.

The bloke shot two people and murdered an innocent man in cold blood. My personal view is that Moat deserved to die.
