Have £300 ish - what TV to buy?

    Hi all

    Need a bit of advice.

I am looking to get a 32" LCD TV but only have a budget of £300.

I have seen lot's of contradictory stuff on the various forums, so what I wanted to know is for that size of screen, what are the most important factors?

For example, I can get a Tesco's Technika HD ready only (but do I need full HD on a 32" screen?) for £280 and it comes with a free 3 year warranty - will post details in next post...

I missed the Dixons 2 day event earlier this week - which probably would have been a better option?!?!

Or there is the Toshiba Regza Sainsburys deal posted on here recently for £280 as well?

No need for freeview tuner as only get sky at the moment - but would use the TV for Sky HD, Xbox 360 and a DVD/DIVX player - so nothing too fancy!

    Thoughts?

    Cheers,

Hi mate, thanks for taking the time to respond!

The problem is though apart from the "it's a Samsung so it must be good" reason the website doesn't tell me much about the specs of this TV so what makes it a better deal than the Tescos one with free warranty??

    There are so many options!!

I used to be a big Sony fan but since buying Samsung LCD Tvs iam now Sold to them and would buy them all the time ... I have the Series 6 55" Full HD Samsung and i love it .. would have em all over the house if i could afford it .. lol

Also the Samsung zero dead pixel policy is good .. we once had the 47" Series 5 which developed one dead pixel and it was exchanged ...

Thanks for the link - it looks good, but still can't find a contrast ratio? - just talks about Samsung "High Contrast"!! Should that concern me? Is it any wonder people get confused!! Like it though, and appreciate your input!

    Cheers

    Slightly revised...

Having looked around a bit, have decided that I would like Full HD and a USB connection so I can play Divx Xvid files...

    Any suggestions?

You should have got the offer at Dixons, 32" LG 1080p for £299.

It is back to £330 now.

Also as requested it can play .avi, .mkv (hd divx) and more formats see:

Ain't that always the way?!?!? :x

I guess it may come back again?? The current Panny deal looks pretty good - but no USB!

It might come back for the next bank holiday weekend (29th-1st).
