Have Amazon removed the 5 monthly instalments option?

Posted 22nd Mar 2022
All I can see now is the Barclays credit option, except on Echo devices, which are still on the 5 monthly instalments. Spoke to customer services but they kept on sending me the terms and conditions which were no help with the issue.

I was able to see loads of items on the pay in 5 just last week.

It was pretty useful. Won't be taking out a credit plan for items though.

Are any of you able to see items on the 5 monthly option?

An old discussion that was recently revived i know, but I have noticed a reduction in items being offered on a 5 / 12 monthly installment plan. Still a few there, but have to hunt for them

There is a way in which you can see just items sold on a payment plan,I can't remember exactly how you do it and not at my pc at the moment to check but it was in one of these posts about Amazon payment plans.

Its quite random - and varies account by account. e.g. Yesterday I could see the 5mths payment option, but then on some items there was also a 12mth option.

Amazon owns Ring as well, so I assume it's active for all amazon owned items, such as Ring, Echo and Kindle. ?I checked and I can see it on a few Ring cameras aswell.

I placed an order for a Bosch drill the night before yesterday and was able to select the pay in 5 instalment option. Same drill now does not have the pay in 5 option so maybe either they removed it or they limit how many you can have at any one time?

I know the items come and go from it but I can normally see several items on the 5. I've bought a few on the 12 previously as well. Just paid off 2 pay in 5 and in a few days will have paid off a pay in 12.

I see that Amazon is the credit broker for the Barclays option, so I assume they are pushing that so they get a kickback from it.

Ultimately it's not a massive issue if they have removed it, it just means I need to save if I want an item now.
Just wasn't sure if there was a problem with my account.

One thing to check - has your credit card expired on amazon by any chance? I have a friend who never received the 5mth option, as he did not have a credit card in his payment cards, only a debit card. Now that he has a credit card added, he does get the 5mth option. Could have been a coincidence - or could be an Amazon policy.

Yeah I've got absolutely none of them on the 5 or 12 monthly payments.

Yeah you can't buy the same item twice on the monthly payments.

I've never ever seen monthly payment options on my account even though i've had it for 7 years and spend thousands a year. Maybe because i've got student prime?

Spoke to Amazon again and they said if the option isn't there I'm not eligible. Even though I can pay for Amazon products in 5 and I've had loads of products that I've paid for in 5 and 12. Ah well, it is what it is.

Nope, I have student prime and get the offer on numerous items.

Annoyingly, there is a page they have that links to all the items that come under the 5 monthly payment plan.
But pasting it in without being logged in doesn’t work.

It does sometimes show on the home page of the Amazon site tho.

As for why things disappear, you can only buy 1 product in a category at a time. So if you bought a tv, you can’t buy another. But PC stuff would still be an option
  19. PonJaul76's avatar
    No, I still get them

Same here. after 4 years, my 5 and 12 instalment options disappeared. 5 instalment option Terms and conditions: This offer may not be combined with other offers. It might be a coincidence, but it happened right after I applied for an Amazon Credit card with New Day in May. I thought it would look nice to have an Amazon-branded credit card, but now I have an Amazon credit card and no more 5 instalment option or Barclay's option in my account. I can only cry for that mistake. But, there is still hope. Amazon will end this card in October, so it should be back to normal. Is the Amazon card the problem?

Why is the amazon card ending?

I'm not even getting this on Amazon devices now. I assume they've phased it out. Pity.

I just seen it on a drone deal so is still there for certain people on certain things.

I think they will always offer Amazons own devices on 5 monthly as they are getting all the profit and can take losses if people default on payments. I think the recent decline in options for other items is maybe a tightening up on credit scoring. I bet they have lost on a lot of people not paying and just keeping the stuff but still buy from amazon normally. So as they dont know who will do this I think they have just got stricter to start with. I mean, if I were well off I wouldn't bother with 5 monthly installments...

    Found this - amazon.co.uk/b?n…754

Which also brings up an 'Amazon Monthly Payments' department in the search field..... nothing comprehensive, but does bring up some monthly payments items.

Didn't bring up any for me yet before Xmas was loads available. They still doing it?

This has happened to me today, trying to speak to someone to find out what's what. Very strange and extremely annoying.

I can't see anything on it right now, although I did recently buy a steel series headset on it.

This has happened to me to. Does anyone know how long it takes for amazon to refresh this. Could it be a beginning of the month thing?
