Just checked and my virgin broadband comes with it (now they just need to roll out that increase to 50mb)
It is also unlimited (meaning I could put up all my stuff)

I tend to use a service from www.getdropbox.com which seems to be an excellent service. If you do intend to open up an account with them, please let me know, I can pm you a link which will add extra space onto my 2gb allowance.

I use adrive.com gives you 50gb of space and can be used for sharing files between family and friends too.

Well personally I have about 20gb of music, mystery science theatre 142.gb, work = 4-5gb, 10gb of glorious scummvm games and a selection of movies (50gb).

I have vista do auto backup, But i always cancel it when it runs! Ha Ha, Kind of defeats the object! Its relatively new pc so at the mo i have around 25 gb of pics and music ripped from cd's

I use windows home server. Backs up all my pc's automatically and I can choose data I want to replicate across drives.

Unless you are a competent user I would avoid using this, but for most fairly pc literate people, Im sure its very good.

FWIW, I use Live Mesh and Skydrive for the stuff I want offsite backups for. I went to use Virgins backup service, but found its so slow, I gave up.

Im going for 50mb next month and so with upload speeds increased as well as unlimited storage, I might start placing backups of my Home Server with them. Lets see what they think then!!!

Cheers

I'm not stupid enough to get a virus, but i was stupid enough to accidently wipe my partition table.

Luckily I'm clever enough to leave it alone until I found an exceptional piece of software which took years to complete, but restored the whole lot.

I tend to backup music and porn to usb disk now.

RAID 1 all the way baby.

RAID 1 isn't a backup solution, it protects you against a drive failing but if you do anything accidentally to the drive such as delete files you didn't mean to it's replicated across both drives.

I back up to a set of external hard drives including one which I keep on me, I use Synctoy as I find it's simple in use and I like its preview feature. I don't use online backup services as it would take forever to upload the data and download it later in case of failure.

Fair point - although I don't need backup against being an idiot Sure I have deleted the odd file by mistake but so long as you don't write anything else to that drive it is easy to get it back.

Small files are easy to get back but larger ones are not, it's easy to make an error without being an idiot and the OS or software itself can corrupt the files which again will be corrupted on both drives.

I use Time Machine - it's so simple. Also used it to clone my HDD when I expanded it.

Just plug in my external HDD and away it goes. Mac is just sooo good.

I use second copy.

I have my laptop, media centre and Freecom 1 TB network drive. Second copy continuously backs up in various patterns I have set up which means I have two backups of very important data and 1 backup of just useful info. I also have a copy of some data on my work laptop.
