I am going to help my gran do her will this week and I am going to try and do it myself if it isn't too complicated.

I also need to do a will for myself and my OH.

jellybaby22

nope.. im assuming my OH would get everything anyway if I pop my cloggs

The main reason I want to get one done is if anything happened to me and oh at same time. Not a nice thought but you never know. The main element I would want covered is who would be responsible for bringing up my kids

people with children should remember that writing a will is ESSENTIAL-its not just about leaving your house/money etc to people-you should name who you would have as guardian to your children in the event the worst happened, and put the finances in place so that whoever you want to care for your children can afford it.

I'm not bothered who gets my toilet in all fairness!

Yup, did it last year in return for a donation to charity (local hospice which my grandad used)

We got something done that we needed to get done and got to donate money to a charity close to our hearts as well

I did mine with a lawyer m8-dont want to do an online one just in case, altho in our case nobody would ever contest our instructions-until last year my younger brother would have been responsible for the kids, but our oldest son got married last year and is now 26 so we changed it to him and his wife. My brother would still control all the finances until the kids got through university etc and were settled-he is a qualified accountant and has many succesful business ventures so I trust him 100 percent to actually manage the money properly, altho my children are the actual beneficiaries. Likewise we are the named guardians for his children. Even if you dont have huge assets to leave yet,I strongly advise anyone with children to actually put in writing what their wishes for their children are.

i had one in the military, but not anymore !
should get one i suppose !
( didn't intend on needing one for quite a whle yet though )

Lol, safari's auto spell corrector never ceases to amaze me with its sense of comedy genius

i think one if the hardest parts would be to decide who to name as guardians. Could see that being quite a heated discussion. Still, better for us to have it now than the rest of the family have to sort it out should the worst happen
