    HDD Help!!

I got all confused with the suggestions in the weekend picture thread so need a clear answer here..

I bought ebuyer.com/UK/…b/0 this HDD for my new build. I installed everything correctly, but when looking at my sytem specs, it tells me my HDD is only 128GB :? - A long way off what it should be. It can't be a BIOS probelm as my bios recognises it as 500.1GB. I take it i need to reformat the drive, but how do i do this - do i reinstall xp, and where do i install it from (ie within XP or what?)

    TIA

The link to the HDD is in the OP BTW

emasu..you'll probably have to go into the bios and arrange the boot order so the CDROM is the first...I tend to have the floppy as second and the HDD as third ..if no floppy then put HDD second....when you then start the PC with the XP disc in the drive it will boot from that.

I would go into the recovery suite and format the drive from there..when that is complete you can then reinstall windows.

    Where's the recovery suite?

when the system boots from the XP CD you'll have the option of pressing R to enter the recovery suite....you then simply enter the command for the reformat at the cursor....if you type HELP at the cursor it will give you a list of commands....it may be FORMAT...anyway lets say it is ....so you enter FORMAT /C: well I think..the space after format must be included..if that doesn't work try it without the forward slash but keeping the space.

Have SP2, and the Bios shows 500.1 GB

you have to install a driver that will cope with a HDD bigger than 150 for windows xp. It is on the windows site, sorry been so long since I have done it can`t remember where.
google harddrive install 250+ and you should get an answer
