There is no such thing as a decent HDMI cable.

A HDMI cable is digital and so the signal either gets from one end to the other or it doesn't.

It's like digital TV, if the signal is damaged in anyway you don't get snow, you just don't get anything!

The same for an optical audio cable.

I saw a stray HDMI lead in my local Lidl on Monday for £5, even though that deal ended a week or two ago.

I got one from Amazon for £1.78 the other day, have a look on there.

    It was 1.8m, but that's OK isn't it ?

By 'decent' he could mean, one where the end doesn't fall off through continued connection/disconnection.

Does this mean the same for DVI Cable, does it matter if I get one on the cheap

Yup, its the same as DVI.

Any digital connection wll have the same results, it gets there or it doesn't.
