waited in all day for HDNL to come and collect my parcel and they never showed.
Phoned them and was told that they only just got the info that it needed collecting at 3pm this afternoon when i bought and paid for the service on sunday.
They then said that it would be tomorrow.
Anyone else had any trouble like this and will they compensate me for the inconvenience ?

Why do you feel you are deserving of compensation? What is your actual loss?

awful company with regards to deliveries and to deal with and every parcel I recieve comes covered in dirt. I hate getting item delivered by them.

They might have taken time off work or whatever to wait in for it.

Eg: If you book a time slot for your shopping to be delivered with Sainsburys, and they are late, they give you a £10 voucher.

they might have not been on the ball today anyway as over the weekend news on the guardian website revealed half their depots are being closed to save the billionairre barclay twins some cash.

expect an even worse service and even later deliveries. hdn are changing name to yodel btw

Do not speculate until you know the absolute reason why they are wanting to claim compensation.

Serves you right for using HDNL/Yodel, they are bloody awful and there is enough complaints on the internet if you look

search ANY delivery company and you will get complaints. even postman pat.

For the record, I use HDNL and I have never had any trouble with them.

Hdnl are an effing joke ( and i didnt choose to use them , Tesco did !! ) they only forced our garage door open , broke it and it wouldnt shut , then left .........leaving our entire contents of garage ( some expensive stuff) on show , plus the delivery , for several hours , and cost us £80 for an emergency repair as they snapped the coil on garage door .............but guess what , they deny all knowledge of a delivery !!!,,,,,,,,grrr ...I am on the case , but christ its hard work ........I HATE HDNL ..........FACT !!!!

You've really rattled my cage with that comment. Who the hell are you to tell people what they can or cannot say!
Dehumanization has a valid point and to add to that the recipient may also have been inconvenienced by this delay.
Maybe you should learn how to speak to people and think before posting again!

Genuinely, I do not care what I have ratted. The principle of compensation is to cover any loss that someone has suffered as a result of an act or omission. Until the OP comes back to specifically state their ACTUAL losses people should not speculate.

...by the way, I was kidding.

How far have you got with the complaint?

HDNL use lots of smaller companies to do their work, just report any issues to them, they will probably hire someone else for your area if they receive enough complaints.

They never said they were deserving of it-they asked if they will compensate. Again as I said, a Sainsburys delivery might be 5 minutes late, I highly doubt that will inconvenience anyone but they still give you a £10 voucher... Companys like to keep their customers, that is why they compensate.

I appreciate that but for all we know (and I hate to speculate and I have already made that point) HDNL could be under contract to someone else so they therefore may have no obligation to the OP. The OP may not even be working today. Until they come back and state why they think they deserve compensation we should not speculate. Even if they were working they may have taken it as holiday. Therefore they have potentially no loss.

Maybe my gripe is with the compensation culture of this country. Some people want something for free and it should not be like that. Compensation should be for when someone is seriously wronged.

Haha. I am sorry!!

If you feel I can be of some assistance then please drop me a PM. Whilst potentially it is one word against another in these circumstances sometimes perseverance works wonders. You have quite clearly suffered a loss and therefore you should be compensated for the damage that has been caused.

dont actually believe this to be honest why would a delivery driver gotto this effort? if no ones in perhaps try a neighbour,if no luck possibly leave in bin or in back garden(small value item)

all they do is take it back and re-deliver

Taken it as holiday is still a loss- should they need another day. And again-they didn't say they deserve compensation. If a company was going to offer you something though for a cock up on their end, would you turn it down? I doubt it.

I am sure the same could be said here for Shops. Why would she go to this effort when she is able to prove that the damage was caused by the delivery company?

what effort type a few words to tesco, hdnl and on here ?

what courts gonna believe a delivery driver wanted to deliver a parcel that much they broke a garage door trying to deliver a parcel they carry sorry you wernt at home cards!

Why would i be bothered to lie on a shopping forum ???.............I am saying how it is , a delivery of four big boxes fron tesco direct was on full view as i pulled into my drive at @ 4pm one afternoon after i had been out the house since @ 8.30 am , as i pulled up a neighour from over the road had seen everything and thankfully had watched out all day for me , then when we tried to shut garage we realised they had snapped the coil !!!

Oh ......and dont see why i have to explain , BUT i have .......and thats how it is !!!!!!!!!

Did you miss the part about the neighbour who witnessed the incident?

Terrible Terrible company but I think they undercut the big players so many companies use them. Shame cause they are pathetic. Had to dos with them many a time (got delivery charges compensated twice!), they're run by a bunch of amateurs.

OH and jamstar or whatever ya name is , it was a pram , a bike , child seat and a bike carrier for your info ...........4 large parcels !!!........thankfully they were , as well as the stuff in the garage were all still there when i arrived home !!..........i just want reimbursed for the cost of the door damage that i have had to pay ,,,,,,,,,,,,think thats fair ...dont you ???

...the conduct of the neighbour here is not in question. It is a question of fact as to whether the damage was done by the delivery driver. Whilst this is a "small claim" I would say Shops case is probably worth pursuing if she fancied her day in court.

why does it matter what size the parcels were, theyd probably be in your area next day anyway no skin off drivers nose if they go back and have to go out on next days deliveries

and this "neighbour that was watching why didnt he offer to take delivery of parcels"

I think she would have preferred it if they came back the next day. I doubt they chose that to happen O_O

I'd love to see the OP's face when they check this expecting a couple of replies xD

who's to say the neighbour didnt break in to the garage and are using this as cover?

Oh ffs , this is how it was , hdnl came whilst i must of been on school run , then went to work , no one home , so they forced integral garage door open !.......put 4 large parcels at front of garage , obviously tried to shut garage door , it wouldnt so buggered off !!.....didnt even leave a note through door !
I get home and neighbour over the road explains what they had seen and 5that they jumped in van and went quick !!..........and if it wasnt for her i may not have known who had delivered as it was a tesco delivery , also i may not have any contents left in my garage !!
