Help!?

Right, I need some help about phone lines and internet. Currently im with virgin media for my internet & phone line and im getting like £60 just on phone bill , we have the unlimited landline calls which is about £12 or so & £17.99 for the internet. Problem is phone line is getting too much and also internet is running really really slow. So what would be a perfect solution?? well heres some help

I need internet which is reasonably fast
unlimited landline would be ideal
and also something so I can make mobile calls but dont work out to cost much.

Just wondering, are there any providers which do a landline & mobile bundle or such??

get a cheapo mobile and adsa sim card (4p to mobiles, 1p per text). VM charge a fortune for mobile calls.

BTW, I pay £15.50 to VM for line rental, talk weekends, 2mb BB so you are paying well over the top anyway

I used to Pay around £15 a month for my landline which I hardly ever used. Over the year that was £180. I then switched to Tesco VoiP which gives you unlimited landline calls for £2.95 a month and no line rental cost but you do need a broadband connection for it to work. I save almost £150 a year now and I still get the same quality of calls with the Tesco Internet Phone. I'd strongly consider doing that unless theres some other reason you need a PSTN (Traditional) landline.

If you ditched their landline and took the Tesco Internet Phone and also signed up with Virgin Mobile, that will get you 300 mins & 300 texts for £10 a month, a great supplement to your call need. So for 300 anytime mins & 300 texts, and unlimited landline calls, all you'd pay is £12.95 a month. Add your broadband cost and your talkin around £30 a month for landline, mobile and broadband.

so then who shall i switch my broadband to? as it is running really slow, I rang them up yesterday and they said its fine from their end but yeah still i rebooted my laptop today and you would expect everything to run fine, but still getting a slow connection. I mean I am thinking of switching to tesco unlimited landline now, and get a virgin mobile but then im stuck for broadband with VM aint I?

It depends on what you mean by slow connection. I pay for a 20Mb broadband but I only get around 4mb (at best) on UK sites. Overseas sites would be slower for me in terms of download speed.

What Broadband package are you on at the moment?

It may be some other factor thats slowing your internet connectiond down as well...go to www.speedtest.net and check your speed there.

lol..okay, sounds like the "slow" problem is stemming from the laptop.

If you have a wireless network, is it secured and if no to what extent? If you dont have a wireless network then the problem def lies on the laptop, it may be getting bogged down by spyware, malware etc. Even a 2Mb broadband connection should bring up the webpage in a second or 2.....I'd definitely get someone to have a look at the laptop.

you'll probably find that once you get your laptop internet connection sorted out that it will be much much faster.

Nope. Only anti-spyware anti-malware software would be able to remove it. I'd start with going to www.pctools.com download Spyware Doctor and run a scan to see what exactly is cluttering up your internet connection.

Rebooting has no effect at all on spy/malware..... also you should update your anti-virus program and run a full system scan to make sure that its not a virus either.
