Nope, you can only use the drive thats issued with it AFAIK.

Yes you can fix it what make is it? samsung / hitachi / benq / liteon you can check by looking at the following image modchipman.com/dow…jpg
Also it depends what problem u are having is it reading any games or maybe not ejecting,

please describe the fault best you can.

There are several options available to you depending on the actuall fault

for example:

New laser unit easy to fit and plenty of guides

New dvd rom drive cost around 20 / 25 pounds not so easy to fit but very possible and loads cheaper than ms alternative.

If you are totally stuck I would be happy to do it all for you FOC you would just need to pay p&p and the cost of new drive / laser

Hope this helps feel free to msg me

I thought he mean't as in, go out and buy a brand new dvd drive.

He can go out and buy a brand new dvd drive, if he knows where to go get one :P

obviously he wont get one at piece of shi** world or other electrical outlets, but any decent console / pc repair outlets worth there grain of salt should be able to help.

Online he can get one from eBay or maybe DealXtreme: copy and paste link

if the drive is dead, you will need extract the key and spoof it on to another

or if you've got a sammy drive in there already you are looking at a very easy job with no flashing involved...

how old is it ? because i sent daughters away to germany it was at least 18 months old and the drive was flashed microsoft replaced it with a new drive for free.
the only draw back being i cant flash the new drive .... yet.

You can get details from the liteon and spoof to say a sammy already......

the liteon can be flashed but we do not have a full fw dump from one yet because there is no known way of dumping the entire fw....

If your swapping a sammy for a sammy you don't need to flash the new drive, just swap the PCB from the old broken drive to the new drive. Job sorted
