Even worse IMO, and the personal opinion of a Comet store Manager have you got it's receipt? You may be able to claim for repair

i have the receipt but i brought it from Currys... Not the greatest of returns policy with them lol

Are you 100% sure it's not the battery or charger? Have you ever opened it to install more RAM or anything?

Any more info than "it just died"?

Was it the blue screen of death? did it not power on at all? did it post but then fail to boot into the OS?

Might be able to offer some advice if there's more info available.. and if not then at least you could give that info to a repair shop and they should be able to fix it quicker (if fixable) and save you money in the long run.

no the BIOS screen didn't come up, the 'blue screen of death' didn't come up, it literally just wont charge or anything.

If the lights do light up then the issue may be a faulty inverter board or backlight - these are common issues and easily replaced (expect to pay between £30-£100 for replacement). It can also be faulty voltage regulators - these use capacitors to determine the different voltages for the different components such as 5V for USB, 12V for CPU, 3.3V for the hard drive, etc. These cannot be easily repaired and usually a motherboard replacement is required (expect to pay well over £150).

Battery not charging is usually a sign of a fault with the laptop's charging circuitry but I suspect this is not the case and it looks more likely to be issue with the voltage regulators, I'm afraid.
