top tip - find a better hobby

    hooks. you'll need them!!!

If ya just starting and only doing it now and again as a bit of fun then any old cheap rod and reel will do. The fish will never know! Try a budget set from argos or the like and you'll get everything you need. Top tip- Use small hooks, you can catch big or little with them. Fishing is like any hobby. There is a very strong market and following for it and you can spend huge amounts on top equipment, it all depends whether you want to test the water, so to speak or dive in at the deep end!

I would say get a cheap rod and reel, if its not for you after a few trips to the river then you haven't lost much.

Some fisheries have loan equipment for the beginner to try, it wont be the best equipment but it should point you in the correct direction without spending too much (Don't forget a rod licence). Have you considered Fly Fishing?
