Help! BT are trying to charge me for signing up for TalkTalk

Ok so just moved flat and needed to get phone line broadband etc, TalkTalk seemed a good deal so phoned up and they said i needed a BT phone line first, so i contacted BT and set up Option1. Phoned talktalk back and asked if i would incurr any charges from BT for signing up they said no because the would pay by BT line rental on my behalf and no cancelation would occur.

This doesnt seem to be the case as BT are now wanting in excess of 70 pound for cancelation. It was over 100 but recieved a credit of 49 which reduced it to just over 70 on the same bill??

Has this happened to anyone else?

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers

New sign up's and home moving customers are "usually" subject to 12 month contract. This thread should be in the misc section

Hello darrinm81, Sadly in this case you would not have a leg to stand … Hello darrinm81, Sadly in this case you would not have a leg to stand on, You will have T&C's of the line rental supplied by BT which covers cancellations within the minimum term (12 Months) and by joining TalkTalk you are ending your contract with BT before the minimum term. TalkTalk are correct in saying that they will take over all charges but leaving a contract within the minimum term would not be covered in that speech. Sorry but the best thing you can do is bite the bullet and ride it out; the savings from TalkTalk will make it worth it in the end. Regards, Mike.
