Help choosing a 1070 gpu

I'm looking to purchase a 1070, any guidance on which to go for would be appreciated.

I know there were a couple 1070 for £350 during Black Friday. Asus dual oc 1070, zotac mini 1070, msi armor oc 1070, palit geforce dual 1070. Hoping one of them gets reduced again for Christmas.

The cheapest currently are:

Asus GeForce GTX 1070 DUAL OC Edition £399.99

Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 MINI £349.99

Asus GeForce GTX 1070 8GB ROG STRIX £395.14

Palit GeForce GTX 1070 DUAL £352.99

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming £399.99

Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 WINDFORCE OC £374.92

MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Aero 8G OC £374.35

Palit GeForce GTX 1070 Super JetStream £400.00

EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING ACX 3.0 Graphics Card £379.98

Zotac Geforce GTX 1070 AMP Edition £398.99

MSI GeForce GTX 1070 AERO ITX £379.99

Palit GeForce GTX 1070 JetStream £363.26

MSI GeForce GTX 1070 ARMOR £393.78

Which one of these should I go for at their current price? Was thinking maybe the EVGA FTW?

Any suggestions / alternatives?

I could always save a bit and go for a 1060 6gb for £220, or I have seen a 1070 Ti for £426, but ideally I wanted to stay under £400 and not sure it'll be worth the extra. Thanks.

Unless it has a ti on the end don't bother.
Can I suggest MSI gaming z 1070. The card is next to godly, so cool, powerful and silent

Not what he said.....🤬

Just because the Ti has been released. That doesn’t mean there isn’t space or a requirement for the original 1070. It’s not like it was a before.

Don’t you just love spec heads online.

As for what one to buy. They will all be within a few % performance wise. Just choose one to fit your budget and setup. The Zotac might be a little noisy. The Palit is a decent price. 12.5% cheaper. If you start looking at £400, then your getting close to some recent 1080 deals.

Personally I’d probably go Palit. Then I’d never be going, if only I spent an extra £80 for an 80.

Big difference in performance between the 1070 and 1070 ti. The 1070ti OCd is very close to a GTX 1080 according to most reviews. There's a blower style one on ebuyer for £420 which is expensive but most people don't swap out there GPUs every 6 months so the extra is worth it. Hopefully the 1070 ti will drop to sub £400 but even so it's a better card and for VR and 4k gaming.

An i5 performs better than an i3. While an i7 is typically better again.

All you’ve basically said is don’t buy this card because it’s not as good as the more expensive one.

That’s like saying don’t buy a 1060, get a 1070. Like all PC parts, there is always better if you spend more money.

Your also undermined as 1080’s are cropping up for close to 1070Ti money.

No idea why you're bringing CPUs into the conversation

Yes what I said was that the 1070 ti is a better option than the 1070. I agree the 1070 ti is about £30 too expensive but all the cards are over priced. If you could get a GTX 1080 for about a £10 - £15 more then I would recommend that too but they tend to be £50 extra or exdisplay.

If you're doing VR or 4k gaming then the extra is worth paying out, if not why not buy a GTX 1060 instead. In the end you're looking to get GTX 1080 performance for as cheap as possible. An extra 10 frames a second might not seem a lot at the moment but as with VR it makes a big difference.
