HELP choosing a laptop! £400 budget

Posted 27th Nov
hi all,

my friend is after a new laptop for help on university work.

it must be windows 10, maximum budget of £400, but £350 or less would be a real bonus. With black friday coming up, hopefully this is achievable.

From having a quick browse, it looks like a standard laptop, 15.6, 256GB SSD and Ryzen 5 or i5 could be had, but jheeze there are so many it's a minefield.

any suggestions much appreciated!!

thanks.

long as its pentium save ya self 200 quid
Do they need it to be portable?
Recently bought my daughter an Asus VivoBook X420.
They dont do that anymore but do have the S430 within budget.
Here
Its 14" full HD with an SSD. I personally find the smaller 14" screens much more portable than the 15.6".

Ideally yes! But not specifically
A normal laptop is fine
Will she ever play games because the need for gpu can make massive difference. If no gaming then £350 is decent enough budget for a laptop

Avoid the acer, it’ll spend more time being repaired than it will being usable.

Good that totally changes the needs. Really I’d say watch for the next laptop in price range that gets a lot of heat on here, you can’t go wrong that way.
