Hi everyone, i need some help with my computer problems. All of a sudden a few weeks ago my computer settings have all changed, don't know what i did but i can't get it back to normal.the computer has gone really slow and everytime I want to go on youtube or my daughter wants to play games on cbeebies it tells me to download flashplayer. i have tried to do it but it does not work and asks me to download all the time. It used to work before and i had no problems, i didnt have to download anything either. Anyone know what the problem is? Please help me. I can't even go on the river island website!

Have you done a virus scan? If you have no antivirus download AVG free

Assuming you are running Windows XP or Vista the easiest cure is usually a System restore.

To do this click Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore.

You will be presented with a calendar, the bold dates represent snapshots/backups that Windows did of itself. Select one at which the computer was working fine and then click continue.

Before it restores Windows to the previous date it takes another snapshot/backup, so you will be able to undo anything you are doing right now - should that become necessary.

Free Online Antivirus scan/removal utility:

Free AntiSpyware remover (to permanently install on the computer):
pctools.com/spy…or/

Free 12month subscription for AntiVirus/Antimalware/Firewall package to install on your computer

Hope this helps.

As above, you could also try Spybot :

safer-networking.org/ind…tml

And run CCleaner :

ccleaner.com/

Are you using Internet Explorer ? If so, you could try something like FireFox, just to see if it improves.

I'd feel tempted to reinstall Windows, if I'd had a system change and felt a virus/spyware whatever had been installed - if just for peace of mind. Plus it's a spring clean for your PC too.

Thank you soooo much, I did already have the avg but didn't help. I did the system restore and it's all back to normal now so thank you once again. Daughter will be pleased!

Absolutely, CCleaner is essential to keep Windows running fast and smooth. Should come preinstalled with every Windows PC!

While I still use Spybot myself, I no longer recommend it to customers because PC Tools Spyware Doctor is much much much simpler to use - for novice users.

The ideal AntiMalware program would be a blend of both, update frequency of S&D and user interface of Spyware Doctor.

Great stuff, now just remember to backup your data once a week - or even better schedule an auto backup.

Next time you may not get away that easily.
