What line of business do you work in?
You should be able to refer to your contract of employment and also your company should have some sort of office manual..or it may be called something different...

i think it depends on full/part time status, and can vary, i had 24 days but moved company and they only give 20 (part time)

Well your holiday entitlement is normally 28 days( working 6 days a week) with bankholidays but this has been increased i believe
what holiday entiltement did they give you?
holdays given for request again should be within you contract the more notice the better and this should be approved by your line manager

depending on how often you get paid it could b a week or a month for witholding pay this should come with your last paycheque

they should supply a wageslip because this shows taxes and Ni deductions

Holiday entitlement - It will be stated in your contract as it can vary length of time for request depends on the company again and very much depends on the work you do.
They have to pay you within the same time you would have recieved if still employed so if monthly you will get paid all your are owed monthly but remember most company's pay wages from 2 weeks previous so you may have to wait 2 months to get your last pay owed

    Employees Holiday entitlements: introduction
From 1 October 2007 all workers have a statutory right to at least 4.8 weeks paid annual leave (that's 24 days paid holiday if you work five days a week).
    The basics of holiday rights
There is a minimum right to paid holiday, but your employer may offer more than this. The main things you should know about holiday rights are:

you are entitled to a minimum of 4.8 weeks (from 1 October 2007)
the entitlement will increase again to 5.6 weeks from 1 April 2009
those working part-time are entitled to the same level of holiday pro rata (so 4.8 then 5.6 times your usual working week)

you start building up holiday as soon as you start work
your employer can control when you take your holiday
you get paid your normal pay for your holiday
when you finish a job, you get paid for any holiday you’ve not taken
bank and public holidays in Britain and Northern Ireland can be included in your minimum entitlement

Apologies if I have missed these...but...

Do you have a contract? Are you past a probationary period (if you had one).
What kind of work is it you do and also do you have a business/office/staff manual?

    Citizen's Advice bureau

Which? Legal Helpline (About a tenner for 3 months)

Make notes, dated and times. Collect as much as you can in writing.

    Good luck.

If you arent sure whether you have an office manual of some sorts the best idea would be to call Citizens Advice. Go for it, everyone should know their rights.
