Help finding an inexpensive CCTV Rig

Hiya, I've been keen on looking into internal CCTV set ups for the home. Most kits come at £100+ closer to £200 if your wanting a proper set up. Unfortunatly thats kinda out of the budget.

What im after is 1 possibly 2 camera's internally placed, and a recording device so that i can play back. I've dabbled on some webcams before with motion detection etc, but they seem to just switch off after 15-20mins of inactive use (no good really!). Also USB is a little limited in length of cable, I've seen camera's which has cat5 cables etc they seem interesting but no idea where to start looking up on these sorts of things! random stab at google seems not much help.. Is the most inexpensive way to go via PC or are there any cheap CCTV camera's and DVR recorders? and No i cant use VHS to record as tape length is only 6hrs max, Im looking for something more on perminant, alternatively something with motion detection to reduce the record time.

Suggestions welcome, anything to rattle my brain to find a solution would be great..! or a solution would be even better
    Thanks for reading!

You wont get a DVR and cameras on your budget, i'd recommend using a PCI card in your PC for recording. Are you looking for internal or external camera?

Thanks for swift reply, its for internal. I was quietly hoping there might be some cheapo DVR originally suited for freeview/sky/tv (whatever) and i can use that for CCTV.

So quick dig on google.. a rough example is to get one of these:

then get software to view the video link.. however i need my pc on whenever i want to record..? hmm..

i have 4 wireless camera on one hub
so they can go from 1 to 4 etc or just use 1,2,3,4 depending how many you need
i also have 24hrs time lapse vcr but need servicing i think
you can get dvr recorder but would only do 8hrs i think?

    there maplins

I bought a 12v portable system with 4 cameras from Maplin a few months back and boxed it all away as I fancy a standard type DVR and will use the maplin cameras which are very good by the way . Only 39.99 each and will see in perfect darkness upto about 8 metres . Anyway , I did a search on the net and found a company selling DVR's for £80 .These were the cheapest ones , they had others but all looked OK .
I kept a print out of the site in my works bag as I neverhad time to order one yet .The DVR's had the usual features and will take up to 4 cameras and come with a HHD , mine didn't and I bought a 250G IDE drive for it .
