buy the x360 connection kit. it makes it simple.
it puts the drive into modeb to allow flashing as well as negating the need for compatible SATA on the PC

thanks have you got a link to were i could buy 1

How much is one of those?

thats the company i use very reliable company.

one word of warning if you do get the kit, the power connection for the drive is keyed to fit only one way, but if you're a bit ham-fisted you can force it the wrong way and doing so will damage the circuit board of the x360 kit. its an easy fix if you're handy with a soldering iron. but simply looking at the wires on the drive before disconnecting the xbox 360 from the drive wil ensure you plug it in the right way around. other than that its very easy

any1 got any good links to mauals?

if you can't then you can easily make your own opening kit. i made mine from a caketub disk box. works perfectly and took about 3 minutes to make. there are instructions on loads of the 360 sites. google it and you should find them easily enough. you'll still need hex bits obviously but they're readily available in most diy or even poundshops

nice info wolf, btw have I seen you on another forum before?

Err, last I time I looked those kits only work with some drives so I would be careful buying that one. I have a sammy and had to buy a sata card to flash mine, with the power off trick.

whats the power of trick

Would be much much cheaper to buy a VIA 6421 controller from ebay for about £7 and flash it that way.

It doesn't seem like you have done much reading up on the whole flashing thing, and I seriously think you read some guides on the net before trying anything.
I would start here:
forums.xbox-scene.com/ind…381

I personally did not flash until I had done a month or so worth of reading 360 flashing guides, the whole process is very technical and it is easy to brick your drive.

That's the guide I use. It also recommends the VIA 6421 controller.

Basically its a PCI card you install in your computer. You then leave the side off your computer and connect a SATA cable (included) from the card to the Xbox 360 DVD drive. Then just follow the instructions in the guide.

Should be fine for flashing both Sammy drives, you need a 6421 controller if you want to flash a MS28 drive (the newer sammy) and don't want to have to do any soldering.

I bought mine from an ebay seller called island-online

tbh that guide puts it as simply as its gonna get.
As you have a samsung, the first thing you need to do is open the casing and discover which type you have: a MS25 or MS28. From there you can find out whether you will need the VIA sata card (a MS28) or can simply use your existing sata capabilities (MS25)/

quite possibly. i use loads of fora as well as moderating a few in my time. i've spent most of the last 8 years (god is it really that long) on ravensoft's official boards eventually becoming a moderator there. i used to design add-on levels for star trek elite force.

you try your onboard SATA if you have it. or buy an add-on SATA card. you can then use the live CD method to boot and put the drive into mode b

wolf, I think I made you a Halo sig before on GHG forum.

Yes, if you get a PCMCIA adapter. However, according to this post it will not work for flashing the 360 and a sammy drive:

check the last post on that page.
