Hi
today i bought from Argos the xbox 360, mega pack, fifa 08 and halo 3 for the wonderful price of £249.50 thanks to the great postings on here. I took on board everyones advice making sure i got the HDMI and lot 0734, now I am going to show myself up and ask the question,

can this xbox be plugged into my sons bog standard 29" no frills, "top - of - the - range - in - its - day", [U non lcd , [U non plasma , [U non HD TV????
I have been told that i need to buy a scart lead or something to plug into the tv, as this model only has the lead for a HD tv! Please help:-( My son would no doubt know the answer but as it is a xmas pressie i cant ask:giggle:

The 360 can be plugged into a standard TV, it comes with a composite lead (yellow, red and white plugs) and scart adapter. This is a lower quality signal, for better quality on a standard definition TV a proper scart lead should offer better quality if the TV is equipped with RGB scart.

So the answer is it will work with the cables in the box - the premium/pro/elite do come with an HDTV lead but this can be used for SDTVs as well as it comes with composite and component connections. The Core/Arcade comes with just a composite lead which again will work fine in your TV.

buy a scart just incase i reckon as the tv probably does not have hdmi

edit - john got there before me

The only thing to remember is that some games have unreadable text on standard tv's - The cheapest solution is to connect it to a PC monitor using a VGA cable (about £5 from play) if you have a look at some of the 360 forums you'll see which ones...

If you want the upgraded RGB scart lead for the 360 - go back to argos - they're only £2.99!!

As previously mentioned the xbox will work on the telly with what came in the box and your son should be well-chuffed.....

As long as your tele has a scart socket you will be fine - just make sure you hook it up with red-white and yellow not the other colours

Pretty sure the 360 that have the hdmi connection comes with the scart thingy too

thanks for this, i just reserved one to pick up tomorrow, better safe than sorry and at that price would be daft not to!!

no problem - like the others have said - it will work on a normal tv with what's in the box, but you'll get a better picture (over scart) if you use the £2.99 lead from Argos!
