What is the German word which sums up how they felt about not being able to negotiate the terms of the treaties? (referring to the paris peace conference and treaty of versaille.
Anyone out there know the answer i will be eternally grateful.

Education today is so great. They dont get a text book just told to look things up on the internet and are given no help websites. He's 13. He has spent the last 2 hours looking questions up which could have been read out of a text book in about 10 minutes.

    Diktat ?

"There was anger throughout Germany when the terms were made public. The Treaty became known as a DIKTAT - as it was being forced on them and the Germans had no choice but to sign it. Many in Germany did not want the Treaty signed, but the representatives there knew that they had no choice as German was incapable of restarting the war again."

    From Wiki.......
Germans of all political shades denounced the treaty—particularly the provision that blamed Germany for starting the war—as an insult to the nation's honour. They referred to the treaty as "the Diktat" since its terms were presented to Germany on a take-it-or-leave-it basis. Germany's first democratically elected Chancellor, Philipp Scheidemann refused to sign the treaty and resigned. In a passionate speech before the National Assembly on 12 March 1919, he called the treaty a "murderous plan"

    Any good?

Whilst i absolutely agree with you it does get in the way of learning sometimes. i do not understand why the government dont put out a book on the internet that the kids can get the basics off and then further study would be related to searching info out.
One of my biggest gripes is wikipedia which the teacher tells them to use but i have also heard this can have wrong information on it. The info they have to trawl through is so adult that they just decide they cant do it.
But i do agree with you but i do think the teachers have some responsibility in steering them in the right direction. When he has done this work half the time it is not looked at so isnt checked or another child will mark it.
When we learnt all the children were shown the same info..it then depended on the child whether they worked hard to learn it or not. Now with the internet they all end up with different answers.

Wiki is a godsend. It might not be 100% accurate but it does give you a good guide of what to research further, if the information there doesn't cut it

I personally tell my younger brother to Wiki things when he's unsure... Then do it for him anyway.
