I have encountered a computer virus that I can not get rid of completely and need a new PC fast, can any one recommend a good one, under £600. Any help would be welcome.

Be warned when downlonding anything, Adware.Virtumonde & PrivacyRemover.M64 are about and they are a complete pain in the a**

Have you tried formatting hard drive and reinstalling windows??

That is the one thing did not want to do, stupid of me I know but as I have not backed up my files for ages, and I think it would best if I just get a new one.:whistling:

you mean you "want" a new one

Ok so I do want a new one, as this one has had the virus I don't trust it anymore, Paranoid or What.

But getting a new PC will cost you money & will leave you in the same state as reformatting your existing PC (apart from being pounds poorer):?

:giggle: So when you get your new computer are you going to transfer the old files (and virus) over? Surely you will be back to square one. A virus is not really a good reason for buying a new computer!

use "msconfig" to stop the services
and you should then be able to install adaware, spyboy and ccleancer
and avast if you want an anti virus should you be unfortunate enough that the above 3 dont work

aslo pay the £60 for a house call from a local it tech before buying a new pc if you have to go down that road

I know where the last of the files are but can't get to them, so I can download what I need with out taking the virus with it. Also I need to find better a anti-virus/firewall any one know of a good one.

either, when you get a new pc or format, you will still not have acess to your files. if you can use your pc at all, open explorer and save your files onto a usb stick (if big enough)..

format pc, and then install virus checker and scan the usb stick before transferring files back to PC. If I could help you remotely, I would.. is your PC a proper version of Windows, or is it a "copy" :whistling:

also forgot to say have you tried a system restore
to a point before you got the virus
use one form a few weeks ago

Why not try Asus eee PC, cheery and inexpensive.

Make sure you haveLinux Edition, guaranteed no more virus.

personally i'd clean the old one but if you want a new one then the dell 530 q6600 that tesco sells is a good buy. £299 for the base unit and the matching monitor will cost £100 if you buy them at the same time. they have them instock at tesco extra atm. add a decent graphics card and you have a pretty good system for £500

How ridiculous, if you really must buy a new component, why not just buy a new hard drive? Install Windows on to it in your PC, then put the old one in an external caddy and take the files you need
