    Help identifying a charger

Got an email from Amazon saying that the charger for a Cubot P9 phone I bought from them is dangerous. Problem is that like most people I have loads of USB chargers, so can't identify which one it is. I replied to the email to ask for help identifiying it, they didn't reply.

Just been on livechat and they've apologised that they don't know what it looks like so can't help me. I thought people loved Amazon for their customer service?? Only way I can make sure I've got this dangerous charger out is to chuck all my chargers away and buy a load more!!

Unless anyone know what this charger looks like?

if bought through Amazon. I would go back through and search my buying history in the account section to find a link to the selling page.

Doesn't exist anymore as they've pulled it all off due to this charger....... Real helpful if you want to be able to see what it looks like!!

Just finished the live chat with Amazon, basically can't help me, only suggestion is that I should phone the manufacturer in China!! Don't think they're taking this very seriously, I hope no one gets hurt from this as it's really easy to send out a picture of the charger so people can bin it....

Do you have a usb cable like that?

If not then search ebay for other sellers, the cable will probably be the same as yours.

    edit:

    another looking the same:

Thanks but it's the charger I need to identify, the usb cable is fine according to the email. But the usb cable isn't necessarily with the charger any more. I move them about as needed so the charger and the usb cable won't be in the same place.

This is a chinese phone? so i'd assume the mains charger would have a chinese plug and would of been supplied with a Uk plug converter.....

Take one charger each day into work and plug it in there overnight.

The one that blows up and sets fire to your office/shop/factory etc is the dangerous one.

No it would've come with a 3 pin plug. I'd have remembered receiving a foreign plug. I bought it from Amazon, I don't buy stuff direct from China.

EDIT - Where I say bought from Amazon, it was a marketplace seller through Amazon although I still would've only bought if it was from the UK. Amazon are the ones who sent the email saying it was dangerous.

Could you take all of your chargers into your nearest Trading Standards and explain that you have received a Product Recall but cannot identify the charger and ask if they could check the Chargers to see if they can isolate which one is dangerous.

I probably could do, but for the fact that the email should just come with a picture of the plug, or should be available when asking at the very least. I don't have time to round up all the charger plugs in my house and take them somewhere on the hope that they can tell me which one could kill me...!

I think I'll just have to wait for a reply to my email, but I thought they'd get back to someone quicker than 2 days when it's to do with a dangerous plug. I don't hold out much hope though as the guy was useless in the live chat. All he'd say was sorry he couldn't help..

Is it possible that the other chargers you have purchased, whilst not all from the same seller, could be a generic type that has come from the same manufactuer and all or some may be subject to a safety recall, but only AmaZon has issued a recall?

It's possible that every usb charger in my house could be dangerous, it's just as likely that the same could be said of yours.

All I want from Amazon is a photo of the bloody thing!!

Probably because they have had to ask for more details from the seller.

Or chuck them all away and buy an Anker smart charger and never look back!

The guy even said he phoned China for me which he wasn't supposed to do (!!!) but not that it helped in being able to work out which one it is. You'd think the first thing to do is find out a model number or something, this can't be that hard surely...

It's 2am so he was probably telling porkies.

For now use a branded charger. If you have to use another one then make sure you only use it when you can keep an eye on it.

Cheap Chinese chargers for phones are pretty much all 0.5amp so that might help identify it.

Hmmm its a chinese phone though, designed for the chinese market.

Like many other phones out there. I have bought a fair few in the past and they do not come with proper UK chargers. Not even the lenovo ones which are designed again for the asian market. Buying it from amazon doesnt mean your buying a UK phone with a UK plug. Looking at all other cubot's on ebay and amazon all are supplied with chinese plugs with a UK mains converter supplied with it. Im 99% sure yours will be the same.

if you go to order history it should have a picture. if they sent message about recall they should know which item it is

How about checking the order confirmation email you'll have received when you placed the order - it contains a picture of the item you ordered.

This unboxing video says its the white one with cubot on it

Thanks, not one I recognise, it would be easy if it was. I'll keep an eye out for one like that but I don't remember seeing that and it'd be easy if it was.

I also have this phone and can confirm the usb charger is white with a red indicator light and has CUBOT written on it. Model no.ND-0501000U, input AC100-240vAC 50/60Hz, 0.18A max, output DC5V/1000mA. Amazon recommended i got this charger instead: AmazonBasics Wall Charger with USB Outlet (2.1 Amp Output)-UK. Hope this helps

    Original P9 Charger

This isn't a UK plug but perhaps it's similar to what you got ?
