Help in choosing a commuters bike

Found 29th Jun

I cycle daily, to and from everywhere I go almost. I'm a freelance fitness instructor in London so constantly moving from place to place.

I currently have a Ridgeback speed, which is 3/4 years old and giving way, so looking to buy a new commuting, preferably hybrid bike as I don't like the positioning on road bikes.

Can anybody recommend a good place for me to look? I've tried gumtree and eBay but no idea what makes a good bike?

Help please

If there's a decathlon near you they might be worth a look. I commute on a mountain bike I got from there. I've used the bike off road / commuting and it's still going strong after 3 years. Decathlon bikes have a decent rep for the money.

A hybrid or road bike suits commuting better and if you go into the store you can actually sit on one to see if you like it. Other than that a decent bike can be picked up on Gumtree if you keep an eye out.
As above...Decathlon is a great place to start, they have good bikes at reasonable prices
