Hi
My son has 6 friends round tomorrow. We are having a BBQ and hopefully they were playing out but the forecast has changed. Anybody any ideas to keep them entertained.
This is not a birthday party so I cant go out and buy anything. Any simple fun things to do.

All boys

kims game-arrange about 12-15 random objects on a table-they should be all shapes and sizes-players get 30 seconds to try to memorise all items, they then close their eyes and you quickly remove one item which they have a further 30 seconds to identify when they look at the table again.

or the one where they have a postit note stuck to their head with a celbrities name written on it and have to guess who they are by asking the others questions.

I like the postit one. Only I have no idea who anyone is, celebrity or no - I've never heard of them!

Two great ideas and so simple...keep them coming...ta

Passing a grapefruit about between knees or under chin? The one where you fold a bit of paper into a concertina and draw a part of an animal on it, then fold it down and pass it on... The I Went To The Shops and I bought a... and recite everyone before you in order too, more of a car game, but good fun.

great idea i could substitute a balloon for the grapefruit...you know boys they would purposely squash it. at least a balloon only pops.

They're 11 not 6.TBH op no idea what you're doing, 11 is like secondary … They're 11 not 6.TBH op no idea what you're doing, 11 is like secondary school, I think I'd rather die than come home with friends at that age and have my mum (presumably), trying to organise little kids party games.

Not everyone feels like that, I think you will find kids love this sort of stuff. They start high school in a week. We went to a party over the new year and kids and adults were doing games just like this....the kids in particular loved it. The truth is we expect them to grow up too quick now, i am guilty of that at times too but honestly if you have kids who feel comfortable with each other and not feel they have to be too cool they love it. They would much rather have a house type party than go to one of those run around places. I wont be doing jelly or anything like that...so it will feel more grown up.

Will have a go at Buzz on the PS3 as well.

I have told my partner he has to come home for a few hours from work and he can stand outside in the rain and do the BBQ

I have 5 children m8-I may have some idea what I am talking about you know! not every child is embarrassed by their parents, not every child is obsessed with ps3/xbox etc-these are not little kids party games-adults play charades etc all the time-kims game is a regular at my 17 year olds scout meetings.some kids love things that actually involve interacting.

my fav eva game wen i was that age... and younger and still now surprisingly was the chocolate game. A big slab of choc. A knife and fork, hat, scalf and gloves and a dice. Sit on floor around choc on a tray then 1 throws die, if a 6 puts on clothing then eats as much choc wiv knife & fork while others r throwin the die. As soon as some1 gets a 6 he takes the clothes ect and its his turn. Loadsa fun x

monopoly!!! who doesnt love it
