    Help installing vista

I'm reformatting my computer and in the middle of reformatting, the pc has said that the installation is complete and restarted with an option of - f2 to enter setup or f12 and any key to enter boot menu, what do i do, havn't done this before :-(

You might just need to take the vista CD/DVD out, it might be trying to load from the CD drive and not the hard disc. If you press a key it should just give you the boot from hard drive option - select this one.

Enter the boot menu and choose CD (I am assuming you are installing from CD) and the installation should start

if it said installation complete, then vista may have completed installing and after the restart it's trying to boot to the CD again. Was it the part of the Vista install where it formats your drive, or were you formatting your hard disc some other way?

i have taken the disc out to prevent this but it is still asking for set up or boot menu

Ok it sounds like the install may have crashed out half way though, have you tried the boot menu and selecting to boot from hard disk?

If this is a clean install (you want to wipe your PC and start again) - you could just try running the install again (press F2)

Thank you, just speaking to dell tech support, they're being helpful so far even though it's out of warranty

yeah you need to see if vista has installed you can do this by selecting boot menu and boot from hard drive, if it doesn't boot to Vista you then know that the Vista install borked out.

Change your boot priority in the bios. Change to DVD drive for installation, then back to your hard drive once complete.
