It's a black granite effect one from ikea. the scratch isn't deep as when i rub my finger over it it disappears but comes back as a white scratch mark
is there anything that can be used to make it not show?

I don't know the material that Ikea uses for its granite effect worktops, but what I would do is buy a little tin of gloss b;acl aeroplane modelling paint from a toyshop (the most common make is Humbrol) , use fine brush to paint into the scratch and then use a clean rag to wipe the edges clean, making sure not to let the rag lift the paint out of the scratch.

You can but scratch repairs in B&Q or DIY stores.

If the scratch isn't long you could always try clear nail varnish.

think i might have a look in b&q then thanks  it's a matt worktop so don't think gloss clear nail varnish would help

There seems to be a problem with some of the Ikea worktops (see ]http//fo…165) - check with Ikea as they will refund you it seems.:)

You'd be surprised at the number of people who don't. Another favourite of my ex wife was putting coffee cups on the side and leaving big ring marks everywhere that just wouldn't come off.

it only got scratched cos i was stupid  we've ripped the floor up in the kitchen & i put a 20 litre bottle of ro water on the worktop to change the water in our new fish tank & it must have had a bits of adhesive off the floor on the bottom of the bottle :-(
we only got the worktop fitted on monday so i'm gutted! my kitchen isn't even finished yet & i've managed to ruin it

Sorry but I would be questioning the quality of the worktop with IKEA if you managed to scratch it so easily and so quickly, imagine how it's going to look after a few months use.

A permanent Black Marker Pen will do the job with a thin nib like those sharpie ones:thumbsup:

oh sweetie, get a nice chopping board and leave it out just over the mark x x
